A A R A N

Past: Four days ago

After cleaning her and making sure she was comfortable, I covered her with a duvet and separated myself from her because staying closer to her right now might invite unnecessary problems..for her, not me. “Mercy is not what I do, Killian and since you caused the mess, I will make you pay for it.”

Killian was the main root of this drama. If he would have been careful enough, Ranvi wouldn't have to make distance or adapt unnecessary questions in her brain.

“My life is yours, Boss. You saved me ages ago—you can take my life whenever you wish.” Killian replied from the opposite side of the call. Yes, I saved him from Lorenzo decades ago..one of the reasons why Killian is close to me, but that doesn't mean I will go easy on him. He made a mistake, and now he will pay for it.

“That's the reason Killian I am not killing you, but I can assure you if it would have been someone else—I would have slit their throat slowly while enjoying every moment their pathetic soul leaves their body, but it's you.”

“Boss,”

“Keep looking at Fabio. I don't want him to commit suicide before spitting the truth. Remember, no mistakes Killian.” And I hung up. What do I do to make her believe that it wasn't me who was responsible for the accident?

Rubbing my forehead, I dropped my phone on the table before cursing in Italian. “I am ready.” A famine voice made its way to my ears and I lifted my head to look at her. Ranvi stands in front of me, a pastel pink dress covering her body ending below her knees.

Her new regular obsession, wristwatch, is missing and that's probably because my wife dressed up rushing and the ointment I applied on her wrist was wiped off. Her hair is done into a messy bun and her face lacks makeup and emotions. Not to forget she looks tired. “You should be resting. We will leave in the morning. Go and rest.”

“Rest?” She speaks in a low tone and I stood up on my feet before fixing my shirt and walking towards the side table around the bed. “You need rest, Ranvi.”

“Why are you doing this to me?” She questioned, and I raised a brow, picking up the tube, turning my heel as I walked towards her until I was standing right in front of her. “Doing what, wife?”

“You.. Stopped talking to me.” She replied, and I undo the cap of the tube before grabbing her wrist. “Does it even matter?” I asked, applying some cream to the redness caused because of the belt.

“It does,” She hissed, and I made sure to apply the cream carefully. “It shouldn't, Ranvi. When it didn't matter to sign the contract with Fabio…my silence shouldn't pierce you.”
