Nia felt like her heart had been screwed back together again after so many years of it being broken.
"Nia? What did he say? Tell us!" Leah and Jade swarmed her as she entered the squad room once again.
"They're alive. They're both alive!" She smiled widely before they both dived into her arms, hugging her just as tightly as she hugged them "I'm going to get my kids!"
"You're going to be a mommy!" Leah squealed.
"How are we going to find them?" Nia said, turning her attention to Shirley.
"Greg will want a deal"
"I can describe the birth mark next to his dick. He already got his deal"
"We can all describe that tattoo" Nora muttered.
"I kinda looked like a turkey leg" Leah muttered.
"We'll negotiate with him until we have to give him nothing or barely anything"
"He deserves his dick cut off" Nia muttered.
"We're going to get him to confess, Nia"
"Offer him no extra time"
"What!? Nia, we can't do that!" Shirley was completly and utterly shocked.
"It's my choice. I chose my babies over the scum bag that stole them"
"His sentence isn't up to you"
"It was up to me when I got up on the stand and describe what his dick felt inside of my child body. This is my choice" Shirley nodded.
"I'll see what I can do"
"Do your parents know? Caroline asked us for your address" Leah told her.
"I never told them about my babies, it was the one thing I didn't want them to know. They could know about the abuse and the scars but not that they might have grandchildren" Nia explained.
"Why the hell not?" Nora asked.
"Because they took my kidnap so well why I don't I pile on abuse, scars and secret rapist babies" Nia bit sarcastically.
"They might surprise you with what they have to say" Elliot added.
"My mom will burst into tears. My dad will make that face. And Caroline" Nia sighed "I don't know how she'll react"
"Elliot's right, all your parents want is know you, they'll want to know your kids too" Nora told her.
"If they're still alive"
"Don't say that" Leah groaned at the thought.
"A lot can happen in sixteen years" Nia muttered, everyone understanding that the conversation was over.
Nia sat on the couch in her empty apartment alone. Elliot apologized for leaving her alone but Nia understood that he had to go home to his kids and she sent Leah and Nora home because they would just fret over her too much. A knock at her apartment door surprised her but when she pulled open the door and saw her parents standing there, she was much less surprised.
"Hi mom, dad" Nia managed a small smile before she stepped aside and allowed them to enter, before she closed the door and followed them into the living room.
"We would like to talk to you" Irene began.
"I need to tell you both something too" Nia muttered, sitting in the chair opposite the couch where her parents were sat.
"What is it?" Irene could tell that something was on her daughters mind but Nia didn't know what to say.
"What's up sweetheart?" Wyatt's gentle voice compelled Nia to speak.
"Joe wanted to talk and I went to hear him out" Nia didn't miss the way they both flinched at his name "He had his sentence dropped to eighty years and in return he told me where my children are"
"What?" Irene felt like her breath had been stolen right out of her lungs.
"I had three babies. One died inside of me, the next had something stuck in his lungs and my last was a perfect girl. I thought Joe killed the last two but he sold them, Shirley is going to track them down"
"You had babies?" Her father's voice told her how heartbroken he was for her.
"I had three babies, two girls and a boy" She looked up and met her parents eyes, a smile spreading across her lips "I'm going to get my children back"
"I'm a grandmother?" Irene asked, a smile spreading across her own lips.
"Yes mom, you've got grandchildren" Nia smiled.
"How old are they?" Wyatt spoke up and Nia could see the pride and yet sadness in his eyes.
"My angel baby, Katie, she would be sixteen. Oliver is going to be fifteen next month. And Janie is Fourteen" Nia's smiled faded "I've missed so much. Does it ever get any easier?"
"Raising kids is always a challenge, no matter how old they get though you'll always love them, no matter what" Wyatt assured her.
"I'm sorry I was tough on you both after I came back"
"We understood why. It was hard on us all" Irene assured her.
"I know but I didn't have to make it so much harder on you both, you were just trying to look after me"
"You didn't need looking after though, you were all grown up. We should've treated you like an adult rather than a child" Wyatt agreed.
"They took my childhood, I understand why you wanted to try and protect whatever I have left. I'm sorry that I didn't try harder to be normal" Irene reached across the space and placed her hand over her daughters.
"You are normal"
"I wear turtlenecks and pants in the summer to hide the scars from my childhood, I can't even fu-" Nia cut herself off before she could say something that she utterly regretted "I'm far from normal"
"Maybe we should make a new normal" Wyatt suggested with a kind smile.
"I love you both, so much, I hope you know that"
"We do sweetheart" Irene smiled, squeezing her hand lightly.
"I'm going to be a mommy" Nia smiled proudly. Wyatt and Irene smiled at their daughters enthusiasm before Wyatt's widened "You're going to be an amazing mother"
