Soda leant against the counter, watching the seconds tick by on the clock that hung on the wall over the other side of the shop.
This shift was dragging, and he knew it was because he was absolutely exhausted and it was such a quiet day, he doubted he'd even had ten customers that day.
It wasn't even an interesting shift, he'd been stuck in the shop all day instead of working on any of the cars, which he didn't mind too much, but it was rather dull.
He glanced out the window, watching the rain for what felt like ten minutes, before turning back to the clock - a minute had passed.
Soda actually groaned out loud, days like this made him wonder why on earth he had dropped out of school, the days were rare, but they'd still come around every once in a while.
He did enjoy working at the DX, except on days where it was blowing a gale and pouring with rain so there was no one around and he was stuck in the shop by himself for 8 hours.
Only ten minutes until the end of his shift.
He did have to walk home though, Darry was working until an hour after he finished so he couldn't get a lift from him, and Steve was busy fighting off a particularly bad dose of the flu he'd been suffering from for a week, so he wasn't at work, and goodness knows where Two-Bit would be at this time of the day.
Soda stared at the clock, 4:52
Getting closer.
He sighed a little, counting the seconds in his head, which he knew wouldn't help but there wasn't a lot else to do, he'd done enough cleaning of things that didn't actually need to be cleaned.
He turned back to face the window, noticing the rain dying down - it had been like that all day, raining for half an hour and then suddenly bright sunshine for the next, and so on continuously all day. But at least the breaks in the rain would mean Darry could actually get a good day of work in, unlike if it was raining hard all day.
He glanced back at the clock. 4:55
Five minutes, not bad.
He straightened the collar on his blue shirt, standing up straight, very eager to just leave, go home and relax, because he was so tired.
That was probably another reason why he hadn't enjoyed today, he was that tired he just hadn't had the strength to do much, he had to drag himself out of bed that morning, much to his own annoyance.
4:58.
This was honestly driving him nuts, and he found himself drumming his fingers on the counter.
4:59
He could've actually cried when someone came into the shop - one minute before he left.
"Really?"
He was very helpful and put on his work smile and voice, helping the person with whatever he needed, until it was all sorted and the shop was empty once again.
5:07
Soda rolled his eyes.
"Right I'm off!" He called into the back office, hoping someone would hear him and take his place in the shop.
