Chapter three.

The atmosphere was neither gloomy nor bright.Everyone was tensed as a new CEO would be taking over the company that morning.Kingston and co has been at the top list of successful companies in the country and today,one of the sons of the Kingstons would take over to retire their father.

"Dad,I'm your first child, shouldn't I be the one to take over?"Desmond asked his father,worry etched on his face."You know I can do it dad,I've literally proven myself to be worthy in every aspect",he complained further.

"It's not about being worthy son,you know you have a weakness and that's women.You have to work on that, besides that's not the only company I have and I have already handed the one at Spain over to you.Let you brother take over this one.I believe he's worthy of it too",Mr George Kingston stated with the 'my decision is final' tone.

Desmond knew more than to argue with his father so he muttered a 'yes sir' even though he wasn't happy about the decision.He wanted the company in New York too.

Adrien Kingston was in awe when he discovered that his father was planning on making him the new CEO.Not that he wasn't capable or anything,he just didn't expect it.He was 26 years old and a very handsome guy,and was always buried in his work.

"I promised to uphold your standards and drive the company forward dad,I won't disappoint you",he said to his father as he entered his home office.

"I trust you son,go do your thing,you've always made me proud even when you were the head of the small branch in Egypt",his father beamed with satisfaction.

On his way out,he met his elder brother, Desmond and younger brother Ezekiel(but often called Zeke for short) in the living room.

"Congratulations brother",Zeke gave him a bone crushing hug."Thank you buddy",Adrien replied cheerfully.

"Congrats", Desmond mattered fist bumping him."Thank you bro",Adrien replied him too.

Adrien's limousine arrived just at the moment"gotta go,see you guys for the family dinner on Friday",he said while exiting the mansion.
The drive to the company seemed longer than expected.Adrien took that opportunity to go over the company's details again.He also took notice of the two directors which he knew he had to address.

"Such nonchalant workers",he scoffed.

Adrien demeanour already laced with the cold, domineering CEOs aura.
After what seemed like an eternity,they finally arrived at Kingston and co.The driver opened the door and Adrien stepped out majestically like the king he is.The staff were lined to welcome him and even with his not smiling face, acknowledged them.He called a meeting with the directors and other employees immediately.

"Just now that he resumed,he already called a meeting,he's sure gonna keep us on our toes",one of the staff said to another one while going towards the elevator.

"Exactly",the other pinpointed."All those lazy managers are in for it".

After about fifteen minutes,the hall for the meeting was set.
 
The conference room was filled with tense anticipation as the employees of Kingston and co gathered for the first meeting by their new CEO,Adrien Kingston.The room was shrouded in an almost palpable silence, punctuated only by the rustle of papers and the soft hum of the overhead lights.

"His aura is too cold",Micheal,one of the employees murmured.
 
  Adrien stood at the podium,his tall frame poised and confident.He adjusted the microphone,his eyes dark,sweeping over the faces before him.Some of them seemed eager and happy with the change while others were fearful.

   "Good morning everyone",he began with voice steady and authoritative.
   "Thank you for coming on such short notice.I know many of you have questions,concerns and perhaps some apprehension about what my leadership will entail".
   
    He paused,letting his gaze linger on the faces of the senior management particular the two directors seated in front-James Hayes and Karina Green.He recognized them immediately;he just read about them.They have been underperforming for months,their departments failing to meet crucial deadlines and targets.

   "As your new CEO,it's my duty and responsibility to steer this company to prosperity in a highly competitive market,we cannot thrive with leadership that does not deliver for accountability begins at the top".

  He locked eyes with James and Karina,who shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

"I've reviewed performance reports from your teams",Adrien stated."Your leadership has failed to meet expectations,this won't stand".Adrian glanced at his watch before delivering the final blow.

  "With immediate effect,you are terminated from your positions.Make sure to pack your belongings before the end of today.Human resources will be touch regarding your severance packages".
  
  "I know this decision may come as a shock,but it is my commitment to ensure Kingston and co thrives".He paused to take a breath."Thank you for your attention,I look forward to working with you all as we take this company to a new chapter".

  He stepped down from the podium,a mixed of applause and murmurs filled the room.Today was just the first step,but it was one he knew he had to take.
