It was a bright Saturday morning, the kind that felt like a promise of adventure. Abby stretched lazily in her bed, the sunlight streaming through the curtains coaxing her awake. She blinked at the clock; it was already past ten. With a sigh, she tossed off her covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed. The house felt unusually quiet without her grandmother bustling about, preparing for her church function. Granny was a devout woman, her faith as strong as her love for Abby, and today she had left early to attend a gathering that promised to be filled with hymns and heartfelt community.
Feeling restless and bored, Abby decided it was time to tackle the dwindling supplies in their kitchen. “Grocery shopping it is,” she muttered to herself, already making a mental list of essentials. But this weekend wasn’t just about stocking up; she wanted to indulge in some retail therapy too. A quick text to Kithara and Roshan confirmed they were both up for an outing.
Within an hour, they were on their way to the mall, laughter echoing in Roshan's car as they shared stories and inside jokes. Kithara’s vibrant personality lit up the atmosphere, while Roshan’s dry wit kept everyone chuckling. The trio complemented each other perfectly; Abby finding solace in them both and Kithara and Roshan acting all lovey dovey.
"Get a room,",Abby had shouted while laughing.
As they entered the bustling mall, Abby couldn’t help but feel a wave of excitement wash over her. The scent of freshly baked cakes and luxury clothes. Shimmering store displays beckoned them in every direction. They agreed to split up for an hour but promised to meet at the cashier’s desk afterward.
Meanwhile, Adrian was wrestling with his own thoughts that day. He had planned to spend his weekend quietly, but his mind was a storm of emotions. His birthday was just around the corner—a day he had long since cursed since Sherlyn had chosen that very day to end their relationship. Adding salt to that wound was the painful reminder that his mother had passed away just a week after his birthday four years ago due to a sudden heart attack. The memories haunted him like shadows that refused to fade.
“Ugh, my head hurts,” he muttered under his breath as he tossed on his bed.He suddenly remembered his family was coming over to his mansion for dinner--a way of celebrating the deal he sealed with Mr Clark macgregor the week before. He noticed there was no essentials in his kitchen to make anything that suits the celebration and decided to go shopping for some.Instead of sending his workers,he decided to do it himself to ease off stress
Adrian entered his car and drove to the first mall he saw in the city.He strolled into the mall dressed casually yet stylishly—his dark jeans hugging him just right and a fitted t-shirt accentuating his athletic build. As he walked past various stores in the mall filled with people buzzing about their weekend plans, he couldn't help but think about Abby again. She had become a constant thought in his mind lately—her laughter, her kindness—and he realized he was growing fond of her.
A smile crept onto his face as he recalled the moment she saved him by making a new document just when Mr Clark was losing it.He straightened his face and started picking stuffs he would need.
Meanwhile, Abby was navigating through aisles filled with colorful products when she suddenly felt eyes on her back. A man had been watching her since she entered the mall; something about his predatory gaze made her skin crawl. She tried to shrug it off and focused on finding what she needed—fresh fruits and some snacks—but when she turned down one aisle alone, he approached her.
“Hey there,” he said smoothly, leaning against a shelf too close for comfort.
“Um… hi,” Abby replied cautiously, taking a step back.
“Can I help you find something?” His tone dripped with insincerity as he leaned closer.
“No thanks,” she said firmly but felt unease creeping into her chest as he persisted with unwanted advances despite her clear rejection.
