I text the UConn wbb group chat that my flight just got in and all of them immediately respond.
Most people don't like change but so far they've all welcomed me in. Now I'm not sure if that's how they'll actually be in person but that's how they've been online. They've even come to a few of my games. Granted it was for Nika too.
Kk tells me that she's waiting for me and I leave her on read. Sorry girl.
I told her not to worry about it, that I could call my own cab but she wasn't having it.
She told me that I needed to 'chill' and just let her take care of things. What is she? My mom.
With my bags in hand and my headphones around my neck I make my way through the airport to my new home for the next eight months. Hope I like it here.
Sabrina said that she would stay for a week between tour dates and I honestly can't wait for that.
Plus Nika wants to come back after visiting her family for a while. It'll be a lot of fun regardless if I like my job. Not to mention the fact that they're paying me $328,000. Not too shabby if I say so myself.
I finally make it through the crowd of people and scan the area for Kk. After a few tries I finally spot her and I stop in my tracks as I see what she has in her hands.
She's holding a sign that says 'Welcome back from the swingers rehab group'.
My jaw drops and she smiles big when she sees me. I pull out my phone and take a picture of her as I slowly walk closer. No fucking way.
"Hey girl! Oh my god. I've been waiting for this moment for so long!" She moves to hold the sign under her arm and grabs one of my bags from me.
"It's true, she's been so excited this whole time. Even our season starting didn't get her this hype." Paige says.
She'd been kind of off to the side and I hadn't realized.
"Well, I guess I've been kind of excited too." I tell them.
"See! I told you that she'd love us and I'd be her favorite. Did you hear her Paige? She said she was excited to see me." She brags.
Although that's not exactly what I said.
"You're so delusional Kk. She never said that." Paige rolls her eyes and I lightly laugh.
