"Why the fvck is this so complicated?" Yoongi muttered, slamming his fist down on his chair's armrest, frustration evident in every movement. His usually calm and composed demeanor had started to crack after days of working on the case without a solid lead. The weight of the situation was beginning to show on all of us.

"I know, right?" Namjoon replied, his voice carrying the same exhaustion that we all felt. "This person, or group, is like they barely exist. They’re so well hidden, it’s almost like we're chasing a ghost. Four days of work, and we still can't piece together what exactly is happening." He ran a hand through his hair, looking at the screen in front of him as if willing it to reveal something new.

I found myself staring at the messy papers and files strewn across the table, my thoughts spiraling in a loop. "I wonder what this person wants..." I muttered, barely realizing I had spoken aloud until I felt all eyes on me. The question had been eating away at all of us, and I was the first one to give voice to it.

"Money?" Nari suggested, though the uncertainty in her voice made it clear she wasn’t fully convinced.

Jungkook shook his head, his brow furrowing in thought. "I don’t think so. If they wanted money, they could have easily hacked accounts or made ransom calls. It doesn’t add up. This whole thing... it’s too clean, too calculated. Money alone wouldn’t require this level of precision." His hair was still slightly disheveled from our earlier physical training, but it only added to his rugged charm. He looked like he had barely broken a sweat, whereas I felt like my hair was a complete mess.

"Yeah, makes sense," I said, nodding toward him. His logic was sound, and it made me wonder if we were dealing with something more sinister, more layered than we initially thought.

"He’s right," Jimin chimed in, his face showing the toll that this case was taking on him. He rubbed his temples like he was fighting off a headache. "Maybe money isn’t the end goal. There’s gotta be something deeper at play."

I let out a soft chuckle as I saw Jimin struggle to keep his eyes open. "You look like you need coffee," I teased.

He let out a tired snort, nodding vigorously. "Desperately," he said, stretching his arms above his head. As his shirt rode up, revealing a glimpse of his toned abs, I had to fight the urge to look away too quickly.

"Don’t accidentally show too much, Jimin," Jungkook teased with a smirk, reaching over to pull Jimin’s shirt back down. His playful jab earned a round of laughter, though Namjoon and Yoongi looked too tired to join in.

"I appreciate your concern, Jungkook," Jimin replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes. But the smile tugging at his lips showed he didn’t mind the banter. It was moments like these that reminded us that, despite the stress, we still had each other.

"Is there any link between all these people though?" I asked, shifting the conversation back to the task at hand. The question hung in the air like a weight, and I could feel the tension settle back into the room.

Namjoon sighed. "That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out. So far, their backgrounds seem completely different—businesspeople, a teacher, even a college student. There’s no common thread. No shared jobs, no mutual friends, no financial links."

Jungkook leaned forward, his eyes narrowing as if deep in thought. "Maybe it’s not about the victims themselves. What if it’s the places they frequented? Maybe there’s a connection we’re missing there, something subtle but important."

"Could be," Nari agreed, but there was still a hint of doubt in her voice.

Jimin added, "Or maybe it’s something more personal—like someone from their past coming back for revenge. We need to dig deeper into their histories, see if there’s anything they all have in common beneath the surface."

"Like what—a dark secret? Hidden crime? A mistake?" I suggested, my mind racing with possibilities. The others shrugged, their expressions reflecting the same frustration I felt. It was like trying to put together a puzzle where half the pieces were missing.

Nari chimed in, her voice thoughtful. "Whatever it is, it’s subtle. The kind of thing only someone really patient would notice. Maybe this is all about control. We’re dealing with someone who knows exactly what they’re doing, playing a long game, and we’re just trying to catch up."

I sighed, the frustration creeping into my voice. "And we don’t."

"Whatever it is, it’s likely hidden, deep somewhere only they know," Jungkook said, his voice firm, like he was trying to reassure himself as much as us.

Namjoon, always the strategist, looked thoughtful. "Good point. But if it’s something hidden, how do we find it? We’ve checked their schedules, their backgrounds. Maybe we need to talk to their families again, see if there’s something they missed or forgot to mention."

"You know, we’ve been focused on the people who disappeared," Yoongi suddenly said, his voice quiet but sharp. "What about the people around them? I’m talking coworkers, neighbors, even delivery people. It could be someone close but invisible, someone who’s gone unnoticed."

His suggestion hit hard, like a lightbulb suddenly flicking on in all our heads. It made sense—too much sense. But it also meant more work. A lot more work. This would take heaps of research, hours of painstaking detail.

Jungkook suddenly spoke up again. "I’ve been thinking about the phone calls. They were the last thing each victim received, right? What if we’ve been underestimating those? We should dig deeper into the calls, check the tech again. Maybe there’s a pattern we missed. If we crack that, we might get closer."

Yoongi let out another sigh, irritated by how his exceptional hacking skills weren’t enough to solve this mystery yet. "We should definitely look into it more. It’s a lead we can’t ignore."

"And what if the victims weren’t random at all?" Jimin mused. "Maybe they were chosen because of something specific, something they didn’t share publicly. Like, they were all part of a secret group, or they attended the same event without realizing it."

I nodded in agreement. "Alright, let’s split up the work. Yoongi, you can recheck the phone records. Jimin and Nari, you dig into their personal histories again, but focus on small events that might’ve slipped through. Namjoon, Jungkook, see if you can find connections in their routines or locations. We need to figure out who’s behind this before it happens again."

"And what will you do?" Jimin asked, raising an eyebrow at me.

I grinned, trying to lighten the mood. "In the meanwhile, I’ll get us coffee."
