It had been a quiet evening in the SIU office, with the team finally catching a small break between intense investigation sessions. Everyone was scattered around the room—Namjoon going over reports, Jimin lazily flipping through a magazine, Jungkook reviewing notes, and Sena tapping away on her tablet. Nari and Yoongi, however, sat near each other, Nari lost in their own worlds.

Nari stretched her arms overhead, sighing as she leaned back in her chair. Her eyes landed on Yoongi, who was deep into hacking into a new encrypted database, his usual serious expression fixed in place. She found herself watching him for a moment longer than usual—he was always so calm, so collected, even in the most chaotic situations. It was oddly comforting.

"Yoongi," she called out casually, leaning forward. "You’ve been staring at that screen for hours. Take a break before your brain turns to mush."

Without taking his eyes off the screen, Yoongi muttered, "I’m fine. Gotta crack this."

Nari rolled her eyes, standing up and walking over to his desk. "Come on. You look like you haven’t blinked in ten minutes."

Before Yoongi could respond, Nari reached over and playfully ruffled his hair, a teasing smile on her face. "There. Now you really look like you’ve been through a war."

Yoongi froze for a second, startled by her sudden closeness, and turned his head to look at her with a raised eyebrow. "What was that for?"

Nari shrugged, still smiling. "Just trying to make sure you’re not a robot."

He gave her an unimpressed look but didn’t push her away. "Very funny."

The room fell silent for a beat before Jimin’s voice cut through. "Whoa, did I just witness Nari messing with Yoongi? Did anyone else see that?" He glanced around dramatically, pretending to look for witnesses.

Namjoon, barely glancing up from his report, smirked. "Oh, we saw. Clear as day."

Jungkook, who had been focused on his own notes, looked up just in time to catch Nari and Yoongi’s little exchange. "Wait, did Nari actually mess up Yoongi’s hair? That’s dangerous territory."

Yoongi sighed, running a hand through his now-messy hair in an attempt to smooth it back. "You guys are overreacting. It was nothing."

Nari shot him a teasing look. "Nothing? You should thank me for helping you relax."

Sena chimed in, her voice amused. "I don’t know, Nari. I think Yoongi might have a limit to how much teasing he can take."

Yoongi gave Sena a side glance. "Exactly. Someone here gets it."

But Nari wasn’t backing down. She leaned against the back of Yoongi’s chair, grinning mischievously. "Come on, Yoongi. You’ve been working non-stop. Don’t you ever have a little fun?"

Yoongi rolled his eyes, but there was a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "My idea of fun isn’t having my hair destroyed."

Jimin, never one to let an opportunity pass, raised an eyebrow. "Hmm, sure, Yoongi. But let’s be honest here, I think you secretly enjoyed that."

Yoongi shot him a glare, but it lacked its usual sharpness. "You’re reaching, Jimin."

Nari chuckled, patting Yoongi’s shoulder as she moved to sit back down. "Don’t worry. I’ll leave you alone. For now."

"Thank you," Yoongi replied dryly, though the amusement in his eyes was clear.

The room settled down again, everyone returning to their work, but there was still an undercurrent of playful energy in the air. As Nari returned to her seat, she threw Yoongi one last playful glance. Yoongi didn’t say anything, but for the first time that night, he looked a little less serious.

As they worked in comfortable silence, Nari couldn’t help but think that, underneath his stoic exterior, Yoongi might not mind the teasing as much as he let on.

TIME SKIP

The office was quiet, save for the soft hum of computers and the occasional sound of paper rustling. We were all focused on our tasks, piecing together what little information we had. Yunjin, our mentor, had stopped by to check on our progress. She was standing near the window, her back turned to us as she gazed out, her expression unreadable.

I was reviewing the latest batch of reports, but something about Yunjin’s presence made me feel… unsettled. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it felt too weird—like there was something beneath the surface she wasn’t telling us. Or maybe it was just my overactive imagination, spurred on by the stress of the case.

“Anything new?” Yunjin asked, her voice calm, but there was a slight edge to it, one that made me glance up at her.

“Not much,” I replied, shrugging. “We’re still trying to find a connection between the victims.”

Yunjin turned around, her eyes sharp as they flicked from me to the others. She smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Don’t worry, Sena. You’ll figure it out. You’ve got a good team here.”

I forced a smile, but there was something about the way she said that—something that felt like an undercurrent of… what? Doubt? I wasn’t sure. Her gaze lingered on me for a moment longer than necessary, and it made me uncomfortable.

Before I could dwell on it, Jungkook spoke up from across the room. “There’s one thing that’s been bothering me,” he said, leaning forward. “The phone calls to the victims. They all seemed random at first, but now I’m wondering if there’s something more to them.”

Yunjin’s eyes flicked toward Jungkook, and I swore I saw a brief flash of something in her expression. Annoyance? Concern? It was gone as quickly as it had appeared.

“I doubt it. You should focus on other stuff now, weve already been through that, go forward with family background more.” Yunjin said, walking closer to the table.

As she spoke, there was a part of me that couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, Yunjin didn’t want us to dig too deep. It was ridiculous, of course—Yunjin had been on our side, guiding us through every difficulty. But still, the nagging feeling wouldn’t leave me.

I glanced at her as she moved toward the door, her movements graceful, deliberate. Just before she left, she paused and turned back to us. “Keep pushing. You’re closer than you think.”

Her words echoed in my mind as she walked out of the room, the door closing softly behind her. Closer than we think? Or was that a warning?

I shook off the thought....

Any thoughts? 😚

Yknow, the way Nari is in my head, plus Yoongi made the perfect 'Same Same But Different' type of dynamic 💜
