Jungkook sighed for the seventh time in the last hour, and it was starting to get a little annoying. I wasn’t the only one feeling it.
"Jungkook, no offense, but your constant sighing is making me sleepy at this point," Nari commented, glancing at him with a half-smile. I had to agree, his sighs were practically a lullaby at this point.
"Sorry," he said, running a hand through his hair. "It's just so annoying listening to these people's phone calls about transactions and business orders and whatnot. It’s all just... mind-numbing."
I chuckled, feeling a little sorry for him but mostly amused. "You need help?" I asked, dragging my chair over to his desk and sitting beside him. I attached another pair of headphones to the dual adapter he had plugged in, ready to suffer through the boring calls with him.
He shot me that signature bunny smile of his, the one that always made my heart flutter. It was adorable, but of course, I wasn’t about to let him know that. Instead, I just smiled back and focused on the task at hand.
TIME SKIP - 1 HOUR LATER
"You were right. This is lame," I said, pulling the headphones off and leaning back in my chair. Listening to hours of meaningless conversations about business deals was draining in a way I hadn’t anticipated.
Before Jungkook could respond, Yoongi's voice suddenly cut through the room with an excited shout, making me jump in my seat.
"What the f—"
"Sorry! Sorry!" Yoongi interrupted me, waving his hands in apology. "But check this out!" His excitement was palpable as we all walked over to his desk. He pointed at his computer screen, practically bouncing in his seat. "The last call made to Mr. Khan, the latest businessman to go missing, was traced back to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city!"
Finally, a lead.
"Yes!" Nari exclaimed, jumping in pure joy and gratitude. She was so thrilled that, in her moment of excitement, she leaned in and kissed Yoongi on the cheek. She didn’t seem to realize what she’d done, but Yoongi sure did. His face immediately turned a bright shade of pink.
"Aww, hyung is blushing!" Jimin teased, and Yoongi retaliated with a solid slap to Jimin’s arm, hard enough to make him stop laughing.
"We have to tell Yunjin," I said, the thrill of finally having something to go on rushing through me.
"On it," Nari replied, already heading toward Yunjin's office to inform her about the breakthrough.

2 HOURS LATER - THE ABANDONED WAREHOUSE
"Shh!" I whispered sharply to Nari, who was making a bit too much noise as we walked through the overgrown path leading to the warehouse.
"Geez, sorry," she replied, slowing down and taking each step more carefully. We moved with caution, every sense on high alert as Yoongi’s voice came through the earpiece in our ears.
"You there yet?" he asked.
I stopped just outside the warehouse, peeking through a shattered windowpane. The building was eerily quiet, its dilapidated structure making it feel like a ghost had taken up residence there long ago. "Yeah, but I don’t see anyone," I responded, signaling to Jungkook and Jimin to check the other side of the building.
They crept along the perimeter, scanning for any signs of movement or traps. Once they gave us the all-clear from the other side, Nari and I cautiously moved toward the entrance. We entered the warehouse, walking back-to-back with our guns drawn. Every creak and groan of the old building made me feel on edge, but we stayed focused. Our pockets were stuffed with extra ammo, just in case, and we weren't about to let our guard down for even a second.
Namjoon and Yoongi monitored everything from the van, guiding us through the layout of the warehouse using an old blueprint. "Jimin, go left—no, not that way, idiot! Left!" Namjoon scolded through the earpiece, his frustration making me stifle a laugh.
"See anything?" I asked Nari, watching her as she scanned the area. She shook her head, indicating she hadn’t spotted anything suspicious yet.
We waited for Jungkook and Jimin to report back, but the silence stretched for longer than I liked.
"Guys," Jungkook’s voice finally came through the earpiece, his tone tense. "You have to come see this."
Nari and I exchanged a worried glance before slowly making our way to the area where they had gone. My heart raced as we navigated through the dusty, darkened hallways of the warehouse. "Jungkook? Jimin?" I called out, my voice echoing slightly. I heard Jimin’s voice from the right.
"Over here!" he called.
Nari and I followed the sound, our nerves tightening with every step. When we reached them, I could immediately tell something was off. Both of them stood stiffly, staring at something in the middle of the room.
"What is it? What did you—" Nari began, but her voice trailed off as she saw it too.
In the center of the room was an old, beaten-up chair. On the seat was a tablet, its screen glowing in the dim light. The fluorescent blue display showed a message in big, bold white letters:
"DIDN’T THINK IT’D BE THAT EASY, DID YOU? ;)"
The wink at the end of the message made my blood boil in a way that I couldn’t explain. It was taunting. Mocking.
"Son of a bitch," I muttered through gritted teeth. My hands balled into fists as rage built up inside me. Without thinking, I slammed my fist into a nearby pillar. Pain shot up my arm, but I barely felt it. The anger drowned out everything else.
Jungkook placed a hand on my shoulder, his touch grounding me for a moment. "We’ll get them, Sena," he said, his voice calm yet determined.
I nodded, taking a deep breath to steady myself. This wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
I clenched my jaw, my fist throbbing from the punch, but Jungkook’s words brought me back to reality. I took another deep breath, forcing the rage to subside. This wasn’t the time to lose control.
"Yeah, we’ll get them," I muttered, my voice more steady now. "We’re not letting this go."
Jungkook nodded, his expression mirroring my determination. Nari, still looking at the tablet, whispered, "They’re playing with us... but we’ll play back."
A grim smile tugged at my lips. "Exactly. They think they’ve got the upper hand. But we’ll show them just how wrong they are. This just became personal."
As we all stood there, the message glaring up at us from the screen, one thing was clear: this case was far from over, and the real game had only just begun.
"We need to head back," Jungkook said, his voice breaking the tense silence. "We’ve got a lot to figure out, and we need Yunjin’s next move."
I nodded, glancing once more at the screen before turning on my heel. "Let’s go, Team," I said, feeling the fire inside me reignite with a renewed sense of purpose.
