TIME SKIP
Minho left after some time.
Now, Jungkook and I were taking a walk down the street, the night lights illuminating the city in a soft, golden glow. Our coats were wrapped tightly around us, and scarves were snug around our necks, keeping the chill at bay. As we walked, I suddenly felt his hand slip into mine, his fingers intertwining with mine. A small smile tugged at my lips as I glanced at him.
We continued in comfortable silence, our footsteps in sync. After a few minutes, I heard a familiar sound—Jungkook's stomach growling. I couldn’t help but giggle softly, looking around to spot something that could fix the problem.
That’s when I noticed a cozy little jajangmyeon place tucked away in the corner. The warmth from the inside seeped out as a few people entered. I nudged him with my elbow and pointed. “Hungry, huh? How about we stop there?”
Jungkook rubbed his stomach, a sheepish smile playing on his lips. “Guess I didn’t realize how hungry I was until now.”
We walked over to the restaurant, and as soon as we stepped inside, the smell of the savory noodles and sauce filled the air. The warmth hit us immediately, and we both let out a sigh of relief, glad to escape the cold for a while.
We sat down, and Jungkook ordered for both of us, clearly familiar with the place. “Two bowls of jajangmyeon, please,” he said with a grin before turning back to me. “You’re gonna love this, trust me.”
I smiled, watching him light up with excitement. "I trust you."
The food arrived quickly, steaming hot and filling the small space with the rich aroma of noodles covered in dark, savory black bean sauce. Jungkook immediately dug in, and I followed suit, twirling the noodles with my chopsticks and taking a big bite. The flavors hit me instantly—rich, salty, and slightly sweet. It was perfect.
“You were right,” I said between bites, “This is amazing.”
Jungkook grinned, his mouth half-full. “Told you,” he replied, a bit of sauce staining the corner of his mouth. I laughed and reached over, wiping it off with my thumb before going back to my food.
We ate in comfortable silence for a while, the warmth of the restaurant and the delicious food making it easy to forget about everything else. But as I glanced at Jungkook, I could tell something was on his mind. His usual playful demeanor seemed slightly subdued, as if he was deep in thought.
“You okay?” I asked, placing my chopsticks down and leaning forward slightly.
He paused, looking at me for a long moment before answering. “I’ve been thinking about earlier... your brother showing up.” His voice was low, almost cautious.
I swallowed, not entirely sure where this was going. “What about it?”
“I just—” He hesitated, fiddling with his chopsticks. “He didn’t seem too happy with us, or with... me.”
I sighed, leaning back in my chair. “He’s protective. Always has been. But it doesn’t mean anything, Jungkook. He’ll get over it.”
Jungkook nodded, but I could still see the tension in his shoulders. “I just don’t want to cause problems for you.”
I reached across the table, placing my hand over his. “You’re not. And you won’t. Minho will come around. He just needs time.”
He gave me a small, appreciative smile, his fingers squeezing mine gently. “Thanks.”
For a moment, we just sat there, our hands intertwined, the rest of the world fading away. But then, the reality of our situation crept back in—the danger, the case, everything we were involved in.
