After three dates the two tennis ball and golf ball had made it routine. They would go on dates every other day and golfball was keeping track of the data. She was walking around when she noticed pin and coiny talking, as they finished their conversation they kissed and went their separate ways. Golfball pulled up her notebook.

We have gone on several dates and yet to have our first kiss. Today we will have ours!

Golfball ran to find tennis ball, he was talking to pen and fries. "TB! We need to have our first kiss!" Golfball yelled as she sprinted over. Tennis ball's face turned red, pen looked confused and fries bursted out laughing, as tennis ball glared at him. "Where did this come from golfie?" tennis ball asked. She pulled out her notes "I was reviewing our notes TB, and the next step in our relationship is to have our first kiss." Golfball said. "Well we have a date tonight so we can then" tennis ball recommended, knowing she probably wouldn't want to around other objects, "Perfect" golfball said.

Later

Date four: tonight Tennis ball and I are having our first kiss. I arrived early to make sure everything goes well. Tonight's milestone is exceptionally important, if our relationship is to be seen as normal then tonight must go well.

Golfball finished writing, then sat at a picnic blanket patiently (or as patiently as she could), she brought the moon rocks they had gathered for them to study. Tennis ball arrived soon, he had brought a nice meal for them to eat.

After the two of them ate quickly, they began studying the rocks. Golfball began looking up at tennis ball quickly while constantly looking back at her rocks, tennis ball took notice "do you want to have our first kiss now?" he asked. "Yes! Now seems like the most appropriate time!" She said bluntly.

The two closed their eyes and began to lean in when golfball opened her eyes, she was bright red, she was shaking, she took notice of tennis ball, how can he be so calm about this? Almost out of instinct she ran backwards. Tennis ball fell forward and landed on the blanket. "Are you ok?" Tennis ball asked concerned.

Her face was still red. Why is this so difficult? Other objects do this without even thinking? Am I the problem? That's impossible I'm a genius, I can't invent basically anything! How is an act of emotional intimacy so difficult? Her face got redder, tears began to form. She was angry. Not at tennis ball, but with herself. (Vaguely) "Golfie" (not as vague) "golfie" "GOLFBALL!" She opened her eyes and saw the one saying her name was tennis ball.
Tennis ball was looking at her with a concerned expression.

Her face was still red and her mind was still racing, she didn't want to be near anyone, she thought for a moment, if I'm to weak do something this simple than I'm not fit to be a partner. "This experiment is over, thank you for your involvement" golfball said quickly and left just as fast.

She ran down to her under ground laboratory to end the experiment.
It is here I have to state I am ending the experiment. I am too
Golfball looked forward. "I can't write it down" she said.

"Write down what?" Tennis ball asked as he came in. "Why did you follow me!?" Golfball asked, "because I saw someone important to me was upset, and I wanted to make sure that she was ok" he replied. "I'm not ok! I couldn't kiss you which is one of the simplest forms of showing affection, than I let myself get consumed with thought, than I ran off. I was weak, I cannot continue this experiment." She explained. "Why did you think you needed to kiss me right now?" tennis ball asked attempting to console her but seeing she wasn't ready to be touched yet. "Because all couples can kiss, I shouldn't have a problem with it, if it's a problem then I'm a problem!" she explained "it's not a problem, going a little slower on these things doesn't make you weaker or a problem, you're the smartest object I know, you can create things they only dream of, and I love being around you" he said "sigh but other objects..."
"I don't care about what other objects can do, I care about you" tennis ball interrupted.

"We can end the experiment if you want, but I just want you to know that there's no shame going at a different pace." Tennis ball said, golfball thought for a moment she allowed herself to get comforted by tennis ball and as she got relaxed she looked up at him. "I would enjoy continuing the experiment with you" she said as the two shared a hug.

Avoid what was previously written the experiment is going to be continued, although we did not have our first kiss tonight. We instead had a failed attempt at a first kiss which resulted in a discussion. About how romance is more than physical affection/gratification, but also patience and a willingness to accept your partner's own pace and how comparing one relationship to another isn't healthy.
