-Pov. Oscar-

The day had been a whirlwind—meetings, interviews, and the constant buzz of the racing world. By the time evening rolled around, I was completely drained. I just wanted to escape, even if only for a little while.

That’s when I got the text from Lando.

*“Surprise! I’ve got a last-minute getaway planned. Meet me at the airport in 30 minutes?”*

I stared at the message, my exhaustion momentarily forgotten. I quickly packed a small bag, not even thinking about what to bring—just throwing in essentials and a few comfortable clothes. I needed this. We both did.

When I arrived at the airport, Lando was already there, looking casual and relaxed in a hoodie and jeans. His face lit up when he saw me, and he waved me over with that familiar grin.

“You made it!” he said, pulling me into a hug. “I wasn’t sure if you’d be able to get away.”

“I couldn’t pass up the chance to escape,” I replied, laughing. “Where are we headed?”

“It’s a surprise,” Lando said, giving me a mischievous look. “But trust me, it’ll be worth it.”

We checked in and boarded a small private plane. I was curious but excited, letting Lando’s enthusiasm carry me along. The flight was smooth, and Lando kept me entertained with stories and jokes. It felt good to laugh and unwind, to let go of the stress that had been building up.

A few hours later, we landed at a picturesque destination I didn’t recognize. As we stepped off the plane, I took in the stunning scenery—rolling hills, lush greenery, and a quaint little village in the distance.

“Welcome to our escape from reality,” Lando said with a grin. “I figured we could use a break from the constant hustle.”

We hopped into a rental car and made our way to a charming cottage on the edge of town. The place was cozy and inviting, with a fireplace, comfortable furniture, and a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside.

“This is incredible,” I said, looking around in awe. “How did you find this place?”

“Just a bit of research and a lucky find,” Lando said, shrugging. “I wanted us to have some time to ourselves, away from everything.”

We spent the evening exploring the village, enjoying a quiet dinner at a local restaurant, and just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The simple pleasures of the evening—walking hand in hand, sharing laughter, and savoring the quiet—reminded me of why I loved being with him.

Back at the cottage, we curled up by the fire, wrapped in blankets and sipping hot chocolate. The warmth of the fire and the comfort of Lando’s presence made me feel content and at ease.

“This was exactly what I needed,” I said, leaning my head against his shoulder. “Thank you for doing this.”

Lando kissed the top of my head. “I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I wanted to do something special for us, just to remind us of the simple joys.”

We talked for hours, sharing our thoughts and dreams, letting the warmth of the fire and the coziness of the cottage create a perfect setting for our conversation. It felt like we had all the time in the world, and for a while, the outside world and its demands seemed to fade away.

As we finally headed to bed, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. The getaway had been more than just a break from routine—it had been a reminder of what mattered most. The time we spent together, away from the pressures and distractions, had strengthened our bond and brought us closer.

Lando wrapped his arms around me, and as we drifted off to sleep, I knew that this unexpected escape was just what we needed to rekindle our connection and find joy in the midst of chaos.
