~Rin~

The ride to the base was long and quiet. Rin didn't say a word to her old teammates during the ride. She could tell that Lizzie wanted to talk to her and she didn't blame her. After all she did disappear and hasn't heard a word from her since.

They finally arrived at the base. She noticed that it was a military installation that made it through the breakout. The back of the vehicle opened and Leon was the first one out followed by her then Lizzie. Thornhill met them at the gate to walk her in. He instantly noticed that her handcuffs were off, which he wasn't surprised by this.

He walked her into the base and led her to The Sentinels squadron. She breathed in sharply as many memories flowed through her from her past. Many good ones but also many bad ones. They led her to her old room that she stayed in.

When she walked in, she noticed that they kept everything the same as when she left it for when she went to LA. She saw a picture of her team sitting on her nightstand. Picking up the picture, she smiled at it. They took it when the six of them graduated from the academy. They were in their dress uniforms. Which consisted of all black with red as they wore a beret with The Sentinel symbol with a red background.

Lizzie had followed her to see her looking at the picture. She closed and locked the door behind her. Slowly walking up behind her, she wrapped her arms around Rins waist.

"We can't Liz, I'm with someone." She said as she set the picture down.

"Please, just let me hold you at least." She pleaded as she buried her head into Rins shoulder blade. "I didn't know what happened to you after everything that happened, I was so worried. I thought I lost you."

"You did, I've changed, Liz. I'm not the same person as I was before." She said as she felt Lizzie's arms tighten around her.

"You're right but not in the way you think." Lizzie said.

"What do you mean?"

"The way you fought Leon, it was different. You weren't just fighting because you were ordered too. You were fighting like your life was depending on it, like you had a purpose."

"Because I did, I do. I wanted to stay. I worked hard to survive this new world and in doing so, I found someone." She said as she turned around to wrap her arms around Lizzie's shoulders. "But I did miss your hugs." She placed her head on top of Liz's head.

Lizzie placed her head into Rins left shoulder. They stood there for a couple of moments before Lizzie pulled away. She walked over to her to her closet and pulled out a bottle of whiskey. Rin smiled as she couldn't believe her eyes.

"No way, that's still here?" She grabbed two glasses from her whiskey cabinet before walking towards her.

"Unopened too." She said with a smile before opening the bottle and pouring it into the glasses.

"Welcome home." Liz said before downing her drink.

"Yeah..." She said before downing her drink.

"So, tell me everything that has happened since you've been gone." Liz asked as she refilled their glasses.

They both sat down on her bed as Rin began to tell her everything. When she was done, Liz had explained everything that had happened at the base and how they had to kill civilians in the beginning when they went on lockdown. They wouldn't even let her team go out to find her. Liz snuck out multiple times to find her, in hopes that she would've made her way back.

"I never stopped loving you. I still love you." Liz whispered as she stared down into her empty glass.

"I know you do. I love you too Liz but not in that way anymore. I'm sorry." Rin whispered as she looked over at her.
