The annual New Year's Gala held by the country club was tonight. Seijuro and I had to get ready the whole day.

We went to a salon and spa to get pampered for the event. I personally loved getting spa treatments but I don't have the time to get one that often.

We -they- were meeting other heads of the family business.
I had no part in this. I just had to show up and support father and seijuro nii.

I just filled a space at our table. Just another seat reserved for the Akashi family. Honestly, these gatherings weren't for me. All the smiling and conversing weren't any of my expertise.

"Yes the venture to Korea! What a marvelous decision that was!" my father boisterously commented to one of our uncles, "My problem is, I need someone to handle the operations there full time!" He added.

"I'll gladly fill in for you!" Our uncle replied.

"I can also do it." Another presented.

"Are you willing to stay there without going back to Japan? I don't want you to leave your work here uncared for." father replied. Then their conversation drowned into the background as I stared at some other guests.

"...I was thinking of putting my daughter in that venture." I heard my father say. My eyes widened and my jaw almost dropped but I was in the middle of chewing so I couldn't.

"why not your son? He's more capable And trained for the business world." They said.

"No, I need him to graduate in Teiko and rank high at a new highschool. His credentials are a top priority if he's going to take over someday." Father reasoned. "Miyuki is just as equipped as he is right now. Surely, she can adapt to Korea in no time."

I took a quick glance at Seijuro nii's way and he seemed to not show any emotions. But I knew him well enough to know that those eyes of his meant that he was in shock that I got chosen instead of him. He was in a black pit of rage he didn't know Of.

Well, Didn't he hear?

It was all for him.

It's always for him.

I was the one being thrown away as sacrifice for his future success.

I was merely a pawn in this story.
