|Miyuki POV|

"You didn't tell me you were now acquainted with Murasakibara-kun." My brother said as we had our dinner.

"Yes, I forgot to mention to you that he is now my classmate."

"I see. And he invited you to watch practice and you agreed?"

"Yes, brother."

He said nothing.

"Shouldn't I make friends with him?" I asked, unsure if my actions angered him.

"You may. Actually, I'm really happy you and Murasaki-kun are friends. He can keep an eye on you and you can keep an eye on him."

"That's great to hear." I smiled in relief.

•••

It was quite unusual but after I watched their practice the other day, Murasakibara would always be asleep. as in always. I never saw his face in class. During breaks, he'd always leave as well. He never looks my way anymore.

One time I caught his glance, it was more of a glare when he came back from the canteen. What did I do to be treated so coldly?

I let it go on for a week but I then came to the conclusion that he was just being stupid, avoiding me for no reason.

"Murasakibara." I called him when classes ended. He didn't stop at my call. "Murasakibara!" I repeated, a little firmer this time and he stopped.

Finally I was able to catch up. "You're avoiding me." I accused him.

"So what if I am..?" He said in a childish, sulky way.

"What reason do you have?" I was quite lost.

"You think I'm no good." He said through his teeth.

"What? Who told you that?"

He just pouted some more.

"I don't think it's good for us to stop talking to me for such a silly reason." I scolded, "my brother just told me that he was happy that we were friends." I told him.

He fell silent for some time.

"Then... Buy me a snack if you want me to talk to you again." He said.

How shallow. My friendship was being treated so lowly right now to be traded in for a snack.

"Alright then. I'll buy you a snack." I agreed with a smile.

"Yeeeeyy~" he smiled again, "now let me carry your stuff." He took my books out of my hands.

.

I ended up buying him a bag of potato chips and a chocolate bar.

We sat down on the steps of the front building. "Do you have practice today?" I asked him as he ate.

"Nope. Rest day~" he smiled, "I can do what ever I want..."

"I see."

"How about Yukichin? Do you still have stuff to do when you get home?"

"Yes, my assignments. Other than that, there is no more. I have already filed, proof read and mailed our documents."

"Ahhh... Yuki-chin's no fun at all." He said with his mouth full of chips. "After this, I'm going to the mall and buy me a sweet bento for dinner. Then I might visit the arcade."

"Doesn't your mother prepare food for you when you get home? And gambling is illegal, you're under age." I was a bit confused hearing his plans.

"Yuki-chin doesn't know what an arcade is does she?" He teased, "mm... My mom cooks but I eat on my own.."

"Arcade, it's the other name of the Pachinko isn't it?" I told him what I know.

He laughed so hard at me he almost choked. Did I say something wrong? Was I that far off?

"I should show Yuki-chin the arcade some time." He wiped a tear from all that laughing.

I had nothing to say.

Then we saw the other players heading our way.
