The sun bathed the garden in a golden hue, the air filled with the delicate scent of blooming flowers. It was a picture-perfect day for Robert and Nicole's wedding. The garden was transformed into a dreamscape of white tents, pastel decorations, and twinkling lights that seemed to dance in the gentle breeze. Christine felt her heart flutter with excitement as she watched the scene unfold.
Standing near the edge of the garden, Christine felt a swell of emotion. Her best friend Robert, now the groom, looked dashing in his suit, and Nicole, the bride, was a vision of elegance. The love they shared was evident in every glance, every smile, and every tender touch. Christine’s eyes glistened with happiness as she took it all in.
Her closest friends were all around her—Kate, Rose, Jenny, and Evelyn. They were a lively bunch, their laughter and chatter adding to the joyous atmosphere. Kate was busy cracking jokes, her laughter infectious. Rose and Evelyn were snapping photos left and right, capturing every candid moment with enthusiasm. Jenny, ever the social butterfly, was chatting animatedly with anyone who would listen.
As Christine admired the scene, she felt a familiar, warm hand slip into hers. She turned to see Alex standing beside her, his eyes sparkling with the same joy she felt. His presence was a comforting anchor amidst the whirlwind of emotions.
“Hey, Chris,” Alex said softly, his voice warm and full of affection. “Are you having a good time?”
Christine smiled, her heart skipping a beat at the sight of him. “I’m having an amazing time. Seeing Robert and Nicole so happy—it’s just perfect.”
Alex looked out at the happy couple, then back at Christine. “It really is. And I’m glad I get to share it with you.”
Christine’s heart swelled. She leaned closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder.
Alex’s eyes softened as he gazed at her. “I don't know but I really feel like I am giving away my daughter in marriage. I hope Nicole gets all the happiness she deserves”
Christine looked up at him, her eyes full of mischief. “Yeah my old man, you'll be a grandpa soon” she giggled.
Just then, Kate, Rose, Jenny, and Evelyn joined them, their faces beaming with excitement. Kate, with her usual mischievous grin, couldn’t resist a bit of playful teasing. “So, Alex, have you and Christine talked about the next big step?”
Alex raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a teasing smile. “Oh? And what step would that be?”
Kate’s eyes twinkled as she teased, “You know, the one where you and Christine become the next couple to get married. I think everyone’s been waiting for that announcement.”
Christine’s cheeks turned a deep shade of pink. She playfully nudged Kate. “Kate, don’t tease him too much. I guess he's more interested in becoming a grandpa.”
Alex chuckled, his hand tightening around Christine’s.
Jenny and Evelyn joined in, their laughter adding to the lively conversation. “We’re definitely waiting for the big news,” Jenny said with a grin.
Kate leaned in closer to Alex, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “You know, Alex, it’s funny. Everyone seems to think Christine is my girlfriend because I keep claiming her. But I don't mind, Christine and me, we are in an open relationship, you can join us too”. She winked at Christine who laughed at her antics.
Alex’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “Oh, really? And how does that work out?”
Kate laughed, nudging Alex playfully. “Well, you can be her husband and she can be my wife. It's perfect.”
