As high school progressed, the lives of Christine and Lara began to diverge in ways neither had anticipated. After two years of navigating the turbulent waters of adolescence together, they found themselves on different paths-paths that, while parallel, were beginning to lead them in different directions.

Lara, ever the diligent student, had set her sights on med school. The rigor of her studies consumed her days and nights. She spent hours buried in textbooks, attending extra classes, and preparing for exams. Her drive to succeed left little room for anything else. Her once easy camaraderie with Christine was strained by the weight of her ambitions. The time they used to spend together dwindled as Lara's world became dominated by medical terminology and anatomy charts.

Christine, on the other hand, found herself blossoming in a different direction. She had always had a bright mind, but her true passion lay beyond the confines of the classroom.
She chose to major in Mathematics, a subject that came easily to her, but her heart was in the cultural clubs and events she organized. She threw herself into her role as an organizer, planning school festivals, talent shows, and charity events. Her natural charm and easygoing nature made her a magnet for friends, and soon, she was surrounded by people who admired her creativity and enthusiasm.

Lara couldn't help but notice the change. Christine was always busy with some event or another, always surrounded by new friends, always laughing. Lara felt a pang of jealousy she couldn't quite suppress. She missed the days when it had been just the two of them, when they had shared everything. Now, it seemed like Christine had a whole new world that didn't include her.

There were moments when Lara would walk past the school courtyard and see Christine in the center of a group, all eyes on her as she animatedly explained her latest idea for a school event. Lara would feel a tightness in her chest, a mix of envy and longing. She wanted to be happy for Christine, but it was hard not to feel left out.

One particular day, Lara found herself sitting alone in the library, struggling to concentrate on her studies. She had a big exam coming up, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Christine. She remembered how they used to sit together, how Christine would distract her with jokes and stories, and how they would eventually buckle down and study together, a perfect balance of work and play.

Lara sighed and shook her head, trying to push the thoughts away. She couldn't afford to be distracted now. Med school was her goal, and nothing could come in the way of that. She buried herself deeper into her studies, trying to ignore the ache in her heart.

Meanwhile, Christine's life seemed to be going perfectly. She was thriving in her clubs, her grades were solid despite her minimal effort, and she had a growing circle of friends who adored her. She felt fulfilled in a way she never had before. But even in the midst of her happiness, she never forgot her best friend. She knew Lara might be insecure, she wished to introduce Lara to her friends so that they can hang out together but knowing her introvert nature and how being around people makes her uncomfortable, she dropped the idea.

Despite her busy schedule, Christine would make sure to always be there with Lara during lunch break and they would walk back home together if Christine had no after-school activities to attend.
This was not enough for Lara though, she missed those times when she had Christine all to herself.

"It would be great if we both get married Kay, we can always stay together", suddenly Lara blurted out of nowhere while they were going home from school..

Christine stopped in her tracks and turned around facing Lara. She stared at her face and started laughing out loud.

"I never knew you can crack a joke with such a serious face Lara, you are really awesome" again she started laughing
