Elle groaned in frustration, seeing sparks ahead of her as she moved her hands, but as it had been for the last two hours, nothing more was happening. She really was trying, focusing and clearing her mind, but she just couldn't form a portal... 'What am I doing wrong?..'.. She dropped her head back, her hands falling to her sides.
'Nothing, you are doing exactly as you should, but it may very well be the spell you have around you, that is causing the block..'.. She heard the ancient one say. Elle heaved a heavy sigh and looked to the woman and Mordo.
'Any other ideas?..'.. She asked, her gaze bouncing between the two. After her little wobble yesterday, they had taken care of her. When she felt better enough, she was shown to her quarters, in the masters hall. She could see she had been there, from the photos, drawings, trinkets. Not to mention the cot across from her bed, which she assumed was for Jace. Even in the drawers, and on the hooks, small garmets were a clear indication.
'I have searched through the texts and volumes..'.. Wong called out, joining the three of them with master Dahlia at his side, both carrying a small stack of books... 'This one may help you..'.. Wong held out one from the few he had, and Elle took it, reading the spine.
'You know Wong, I may not have my memories, but I can tell this is you trying to be funny with me..'.. She gave him an eye roll, holding the book of peace and tranquility back out to him... 'You need to work on your humour..'
'I'll get you to read it one day..'.. He tucked it at the bottom of the pile... 'Without the prints for the spell that you created, we won't know how to begin to undo it. And even if we did, there is no knowing the effect it would have on you, if we force our magic through the spell to break it..'
'So basically, you got nothing..'.. Elle rubbed her forehead... 'I appreciate you all trying to help me on this, and everything you've already done for me, if I've not said it before..'
'You have, quite often really..'.. Dahlia smiled at her.
'I have one thought but..'.. Elle shrugged, looking to the ancient one... 'The eye? Would that do anything? I know you said I promised I wouldn't use it, and I believe you, but could that work?..'
'Unfortunately not. It had crossed my mind, but to use it could have consequences..'..
'Ugh..'.. Elle dropped her head into her hands, her palms pressing into her eyes... 'Ok. Then I'll just keep trying to create a portal. Whatever else I learned from here, it's not urgent but this is. I need my son home..'.. Just saying it out loud, felt like a bucket of ice water had been poured over her. She knew she had a son, been told, and seen photos, videos, but she was scares of seeing him in person, and not having that connection with him. What if she looked at him, and didn't feel the love she was supposed to?
Of everything that had happened in her life, that was the most terrifying thing she'd ever have to face, the disappointment in herself, the self hatred and guilt, if she didn't feel that love.
'What is that?..'..
Wongs voice snapped her from her internal panic, and followed his gaze up into the sky. She frowned, trying to focus, but whatever it was got closer. Close enough that the shimmer of the magical barrier around Kamar-Taj rippled, as it passed through. It took her another minute to realise and she shook her head in disbelief, as Vision and a mangled up legionnaire came to land in the courtyard... 'What the hell are you doing here? And what is that?..'.. She looked at Vision, but pointed at the robot.
