Trigger Warning: Self-Harm

(A/N: Hello! This chapter has a more sensitive topic, so please be careful. If you feel that anything here would be bad for your health to read, then I suggest skipping this one.)

Makoto:

Makoto was a detective. Well, he wasn't, but he had the mindset of one. He was slow to figure things out, but he always did eventually, and that explains how he found out about your little secret.

He started noticing the signs bit by bit. It wasn't anything too obvious at first: you spent more time in the bathroom and in your room than normal. A little odd, he noticed, but didn't think anything of it.

You started wearing longer sleeves and didn't really wear shorts anymore. Fair, it was a little chilly outside, and maybe he should turn up the heat?

But then it wasn't cold anymore, and you still wore them. He brought it up at one point saying how that couldn't be comfy, and you just jokingly replied with "it's not a shirt, it's a lifestyle~" and it was left at that. You did wear hoodies a lot whether it was cold or not, and that was something he got used to a while ago. I guess you were just doing that with shirts now.

But then your personality seemed to dim, and you spent more time isolated in your room. That could be chalked up to tweens becoming teens, but that was when he started to become suspicious. That alone wasn't anything to make hasty judgements about, but now he had his eye on you.

And it was only when he had his eye on you that he started to notice the little things. Like you constantly touching your arm—rubbing it, pulling your clothes away from it, scratching it. You pulling your sleeves down further despite them already being at your wrists.

He waited until you were home from school and seemingly calm before knocking on your door.

"Come in." You said.

So he walked in and closed your door behind him. "Hey, how are you?" You took note of the door and gave him a skeptical look.

"I'm... good. How are you?" You returned, taking out your headphones since apparently this wasn't just a drive-by greeting.

"I'm good. I just wanted to talk to you about the past few months."

"Ok?" You looked confused, but nothing else, and that was a good sign.

"Has everything been alright lately? You seem to be a little more out of it?"

"...Yeah. Everything's fine." You looked a little more uncomfortable now.

"Are you sure?" He didn't mean to say that.

"Yeah," You were avoiding eye contact now, demeanor dismissive.

"Well, me and your mom were talking lately, and we think that... maybe you're depressed?" He just decided to come out with it. He wanted to be gentle about it, but he was sounding too much like the pushy school therapist, and he knew that would close you off for good.

"Oh,"

"Are you sure everything's been alright lately?" He tried again.

You didn't reply this time, you just looked at the wall and fiddled with your fingers like you'd rather be anywhere else.

"We also noticed that some of the first aid supplies in the bathroom are low."

"Oh," Your voice was getting smaller.

"And that you've been wearing a lot of long sleeved things lately..."

"..."

"...Can I see your arms?" He finally came out with it.
