Chapter 8: Robot battle royal

Amy, Stella, Sticks, Sonic, and Knuckles all are sitting finishing a movie at Amy's house. When the movie finished Amy turns off the Tv. "I liked that movie, but the begging was kind of slow." Sonic complains. "Sonic, you just don't understand how movies and tv shows work. The always have a little filler material before someone burst in to get the real story started." Amy explains. Then Tails burst in through the door. "Guy check out my new invention. The super antenna!" Tails then walks up to the tv and places the super antenna on top. "It's so strong that when you hook it up to a tv it picks up broadcast from the past." Tails then turns on the Tv and an old podcast starts playing. "This hour of the radio sure to get your toes-tapping brought to you by lead-based paint and asbestos, the perfect complication for your baby's nursery" 

"Can it play music from our childhood?" Amy asked Tails. "It will in about 80 years." Everyone groans, but Stella. "Great job, Tails." Sonic says sarcastically. "I think it's an useful invention." Tails thanks Knuckles, but Knuckles then stands up and picks up the antenna and starts using it as a back scratcher. "It makes a great backscratcher."

"Not back Knuckles" Sticks says. "Looks like there's another inventor in town." Sonic says. "You shouldn't have said that Sonic." Stella says. "Why not?"

Later at Tails' lab Knuckles walks in while Tails was working on an invention. "Hey, fellow inventor!" Tails turns around and stops what he was doing. "Knuckles, I'm kind a busy right now." Tails explains to Knuckles, but Knuckles just ignored Tails. "See that light switch over there? Sure is far away right?" Knuckles asked. "Uh-huh..." Tails aggress. "There has to be a better way. Now there is with the remote 2000!" Knuckles shows Tails a stick with a rock at the end wrapped with rope keeping it from moving. Knuckles then turns the light switch on and off. "Pretty sweet huh?"

"It sure is.... something." Tails say unsure. "Yeah, well, now that I'm a bona fide inventor, I figured we could collaborate" Knuckles suggested. "You could learn from me and... who knows? I might even learn something from you." Knuckles says. "I doubt it. Inventing takes dedication, tenacity, stick-to-it-ineness, perseverance, a good thesaurus and-" Tails was then cut off by Knuckles. "What is that" He asked. "Oh, that's my iSwatter. It homes in on insects and-" Tails was cut off again. "Can I invent that?"

"What? No I already invented it. You're looking right at it." Tails explains. "Gotcha. Can I invent this?" Knuckles asked as he pointed at a turkey sandwich. "That a turkey sandwich."

"Interesting. I know! I could invent a device to cut things, the 'Scissors 2000'. Ooh! Or how about a machine to brown bread the 'toaster 2000'!" Knuckles spreads his arms out. "Are you sure you don't have someplace else to be?" Tails asked. "Nope, just you and me. All day. It's a little thing I invented call 'friendship 2000'!" Knuckles then wraps an arm around Tails making him sigh.

At Meh burger Tails was telling the others about what Knuckles was doing at his lab which made Amy laugh. "He tried to invent a turkey sandwich?" 

"That was one of his better ideas. How do I tell him he's not an inventor without hurting his feelings." Tails said. "Just tell him the truth, and if you are going to blame anyone for Knuckles' behavior, I blame Sonic."

"What why me?" Sonic asked. "Because you said, and I quote 'Looks like there's another inventor in town.' Which made Knuckles thinks anything he makes becomes an invention of his own. Which is why I said you would regret saying that." Stella explains.

"That doesn't prove anything." Just then Knuckles came running up to the group. "Tails! You gotta see this! Oh, sorry guys. Inventor stuff. You wouldn't understand." Stella looks at Sonic.  "You were saying?"
