A year passed since the war at Mission City began, a whole year since Y/N met the Autobots and their leader, Optimus Prime. A gentle metal giant, with a heart of gold and one that captured your heart with his kindness and strength. Y/N have always been alone and felt as if something was lost within your life... maybe it was because your mother passed when you were only young. But here they were, living in your yard, like a truck stop. It kind of looks strange seeing a Peterbilt 379 semi-truck, a black GMC pickup truck and an Hummer right at the backyard, waiting for you to wake up and greet you. It took some time for your father to get used to have three giant alien robots living with them, especially when he heard about the war back in Mission City and how his own daughter was in thick of it. Overprotected as always... You sigh softly as your father started panicking, despite Optimus trying to reassure him that he was there to protect you. You couldn't help but feel happy to see Optimus and your father caring for your safety. It was as if you had two fathers. As the sun begun to set, giving off an afterglow, you sit outside with a laptop on your lap, showing a page of a big and expensive building with the words:
Princeton Opening
A college far away from home. You sigh sadly, knowing it'll be a few days away since you go to college. You heard that your best friend, Sam Witwicky will be going there too, so you felt a little comfortable. You always get stressed and nervous upon going to new places, especially alone. Not to mention without your guardian, Optimus Prime. Though he promised to be there for you, he too has to leave. The soldiers at Sector 7 have asked him and his team of Autobots to help them track down any Decepticons that lie in hiding all around the world. No lie, you are extremely happy for them. They used to be targeted by the soldiers at first... now they are welcomed here. It just makes you miss them soo much, since you wake up most mornings, only to look outside the window at nothing. Just an empty backyard with no familiar blue red flame truck to greet you. As your mind recalls the time you met the team, and how the tall leader stolen your heart, you heard soft steps right beside you.
"Y/N, is everything OK?" A soft deep voice said, booming through her thoughts. You didn't had to turn to see who it was. As his presence always made you feel weak. Especially since the spark within your chest starts to beat and shine brightly as if it was burning.
"I'm fine, Optimus."
You replied back softly as you closed the laptop quickly, so that Optimus couldn't see the screen. However Optimus just tilt his head slightly, as if seeing a glimpse of the screen. He doesn't ask, only looking at the sunset ahead with you.
"Are you sure?" Optimus asked. "I can sense that something is bothering you." You winced at Optimus's words. Could it be due to the spark within your chest? Can he sense or perhaps see your spark beating fast? You look away slightly.
"Yeah... everything is fine... I was lost in thought..."
Optimus remained silent as if judging your words. God, his presence is always so noble and powerful like a king. A giant prince. You couldn't help but glance up at him and stare at his face. It was only when Optimus looked down at you, that your eyes met his bright optics. You blush and look away quickly, which made him chuckle softly at the action. You were both silent, you could hear his steady breathing, as you watched his chassis raise and fall slightly, and you felt that same sense of security that you always did when looking up at him. There was no need to speak, because you both knew all that needed to be said by simply being there. It was a silence that filled that space between the two of you, a silent understanding that you both shared. The quiet silence was broken by the back door closing, snapping Optimus's and Y/N's eyes around and at your father.
"Y/N, it's getting late. You should get some sleep... have you picked a college yet?" Your father asked as your spark lunges and beats fast in shock.
"DAD!" You cover your father's mouth, then you look up at Optimus, who's optics stared down at you with sadness for a little while, before showing their pride and confidence again.
"Ah, was that what was on the laptop? You was looking up on colleges?"
You felt bad for not telling this Optimus, considering he came back after a mission a few days ago.
"Yes..."
"You have grown so much." Optimus smiled making your spark burn even more, almost like you were having indigestion. "Where is this college located?" Optimus asked with a soft smile. You don't reply as your lips went dry. It was your father who replied in your shoes.
"Princeton College."
You felt your heart break as the conversation between your father and guardian continued. You wished that the ground will swallow you whole and would wake up from this nightmare. All you're life, you have been excited to go to college. But upon meeting the Autobots and finding your real family... someone who loves you, despite the one you love is a Cybertronian and you're a human. You didn't wanted to leave him... if it was up to you, you would have followed Optimus onto the battlefield all over again in a heartbeat. But your father wouldn't allow it. Neither would Optimus. He would always say "Follow your dreams." and "You are so young. I don't want you to get hurt."
"It's located in New Jersey."
You hear your father reply to Optimus question which made you get up and walk into the house, not wanting to see Optimus's sad gaze. Knowing he was upset.
You crash in your bed in defeat. Looking at the papers on your bedside table of the colleges, your father went to, grabbing every applications for you to sign. Your head was spinning, you don't want to leave your neighborhood... let alone leave your father and Optimus. You wanted to be close to them... to not leave them... but it was already too late. You already answered some questions and applied to the Princeton College. You hoped to leave before Optimus returned... You knew you had to grow up... to go to college, pass and graduate. As you turned off you light, Optimus glanced at your window feeling his spark ache at the thought of you leaving far away from him. And he couldn't do anything to stop that... You was growing up... maybe you might find someone at college... the thought of another boy touching you and making you smile made his energon boil, his optics narrowed as his servo clenches into tight fists at the image.
