The Farewell

By the next morning, you hear your father making loud noises, in your ear. You groan and roll over, covering your ears with the blanket.

"Rise and shine," your father said trying to wake you up. "Come on, it's time to wake up. It's time for the big day."

Meanwhile, Ironhide and Ratchet both stood at the window looking at each other as Ironhide took out his cannons as if taunting your father, but Optimus stopped him like before around Sam's place. Optimus chuckles softly at your reply to your father's attempt to wake you up. What didn't help was the late night stargazing, they had together. Optimus could hear the covers being flung off your small form. The mental image both amused and made Optimus feel guilty at the same time at the thought. A few minutes passed and the sound of running water filled the silence. Giving Optimus a dirty image of you in the shower, wondering what you look like underneath your clothes. His fans came on, both Ironhide and Ratchet both looked at him in confusion. Optimus had to curse himself as he looked away and tried to stop thinking about his desire to join you if he could.

The three bots wait, hoping you would step out and say your farewell before they too had to leave. Optimus was the only one who was dreading the farewell. Even though it wasn't a long goodbye... That you both won't ever see each other again... Because you will. But sometimes the partings, no matter how big or small, can be hard. Optimus snapped out of his trance and they heard the back door open and you walked out wearing a white crop top, that shows a bit of your skin, a skinny pair of blue jeans, a belt. White pair of trainers and what looks like a checkered white jacket was around your waist in a knot. With a bag over your shoulder. Your hair rests wet against your back.

"Kid, you look ready to hit the road..." Ironhide said as he glanced down at you.

"How are you feeling? Excited, nervous?" Ratchet asked.

"Honestly, I'm sad... I don't want to leave..."

"Kid, you're growing up. There's a time when you have to leave your home to explore the world." Ironhide replied, sounding like a Prime.

"Ironhide is right..." You glanced over to find Optimus standing at the side, trying to avoid your gaze. Maybe he too was hurt by this outcome. "You have your whole life ahead of you..." Finally Optimus turned to face you. You looked into his bright optics of sorrow. "Go to college, have fun. Make friends... And when you get back... We will be here... I will be here..." He corrected himself making you feel like your world has fallen. But, you knew that you will see him again. Eventually.

You nod your head at his words. "OK..." I wiped away your tears, before looking at your friends. "I'll miss you... See you... In a few years time... Keep my father company while I'm away... I promise to call..."

Ironhide and Ratchet both nod as they watched me step towards the front by the side entrance. While Optimus, with a heavy heart, watched with a forced smile upon his face. They all stood there as they heard your father's old car starting up, and driving away. It was already done. Your father decided that he would take you instead. Despite Optimus offering to do so himself. But your father made a good point as it would make people suspicious as to why a truck was in the car park, and was driving alone back home without a driver, considering both you and your father are going to the college together.

"Prime... You OK?" Ironhide asked his friend. Optimus just smiled weakly.

"Yes, Ironhide..."

"You sure?" Ratchet asked.

"Yes... I'm just..." Optimus looked away as he stood tall and glanced at your now closed window. "...fine..." Optimus said before looking away. "Let's go..."

Optimus stepped over the fence carefully as Ironhide and Ratchet followed swiftly behind him. This time, Ratchet was being careful from the power lines just in case not to cause a power cut like he did before. They stepped out into the street, to find Bumblebee waiting for them in his alt form. His greeting was quiet as if he too had a sad farewell with Sam. Optimus nods his head at his old friend and transforms into his powerful truck. Driving ahead, and leading the way to base. In silence.

You looked out the window at the clouds, in sadness as your father sat in the driver seat, playing a tune on the radio. Getting a little excited. It was as if he was going to college himself instead of you, and you're just tagging along for some father and daughter time. As you glanced at the clouds, you noticed one of them that looked like Optimus from afar... Everywhere you go, there he'll be... Like a ghost following your every move. Something about that, made your heart soar and break all at the same time. Although, every little thing reminds you of him... If it's the clouds making the shape of his face... Or looking up at a sunset or a starry night sky... He isn't really there... With you, in person.

Come on, Y/N... You can do it... It's not like I'm living here... I'm here to graduate and make you both proud... Mother... Father... And when I finally graduate... I'll be back with him... Back home to you... Optimus... I just need to enjoy the years here...
