SHANAYA

After dropping to my apartment, I went to freshen up. Lying on my bed, I scrolled through Instagram and clicked on his post.

He looked like the most handsome man, and I knew many girls wanted to approach him, but that wasn't important to me.

What mattered was who he wanted, and I didn't know if that was me. He had never made a move or given a hint, and neither had I. Make a move then, my subconscious asked.
How can I, I asked myself.

"What if he ignores or rejects me?" The thought sent a shiver down my spine. I couldn't bear the uncertainty.

That's why I needed to dig deeper, to uncover his background, his relationship history, and everything in between.

If the timing was right, I might consider making a move. But first, I had to know, was he taken?

I wasn't interested in his past, only the present. The thought of becoming a rival to a girlfriend was unbearable. I had to know where I stood.

I was aware I was spiralling into overthinking, yet I couldn't restrain myself from envisioning the worst-case scenarios.

If he's already taken, I vowed to myself, I'll distance myself the moment I discover the truth.

But as I uttered this silent promise, a single tear fell onto my hand, and I realised I was crying - not just imagining the pain, but actually feeling it.

The thought of him being truly unavailable was almost too much to bear.

My heart contracted in anguish, as if the mere possibility had the power to shatter me. The uncertainty was suffocating, and I couldn't help but wonder how I would cope if my deepest fears were confirmed.

Time skip;

I was engrossed in my work and didn't even realise the time until Mr. Zafar called me.

"It's lunchtime, Mam. You have a meeting with the investor," he said.

"Okay, send me the address. I'll go," I replied.

I headed to a restaurant where the investor was waiting for me. As I approached our table,

he greeted me with a smile. "Hello, Miss Shanaya."

"Hello Mr. Ryan, thank you for taking the time to meet with me today. I'm excited to share our new project proposal with you," I said, trying to sound confident and professional.

"Of course, I'm always eager to hear new ideas. Go ahead and pitch it to me," he replied, leaning back in his chair.

I explained, launching into my prepared pitch. "That sounds intriguing. Can you tell me more about the product and the market opportunity?" he asked, his eyes narrowing slightly as he leaned forward.

"Absolutely," I replied, diving into the details of our project.

Ryan nodded thoughtfully, his expression impressed. "I like the sound of that. Impressive. I can see why you're so passionate about this project."
