"This is fucking ridiculous. Why, did I wear white pants?" Abigor sighed, unimpressed, wet, and leading the way as the only one who can see really well in the dark. Being a demon has its benefits. Or downfalls... in this case, he was not pleased about it.
"You wanna go, where exactly?" Gilles asked, mild shock in his voice though he knew he really shouldn't be surprised.Sloshing through the dark water behind Abigor, Wolf turned to Gilles, holding his flashlight up to see his face.
"Did I stutter? Port-Mahon Quarry... the tunnels under there." He repeated.
"Oh I fucking heard you, but I don't think you understand Wolf. That place?? It's off limits for a reason."
"Off limits to the public. Gilles, we are not, the public."Gilles dead eye stared at Wolf. He knew damn well what was in those tunnels. Of course, he wasn't about to say a damn thing about it and try to derail this plan as fast as possible before they got too far in. There was obvious concern in his eyes, and Wolf saw it. That didn't sway his agenda. He was going, and that was that. Though, he had a feeling Gilles wasn't saying what he really wanted to say.
"Come on, it gets tight up here and the water is gonna start rising the longer we take. This tunnel floods to the ceiling by dawn." Abigor said as he trudged on. They followed in silence. Only the echoing sounds of the water bouncing off the tunnel walls surrounded them.
They kept close, along in single file as the tunnel narrowed. They could see a drop coming up and hear the water falling into a cavern ahead.
Gilles sighed, then rushed past Wolf and up to Abigor.
"I'll take the lead from here, Abs. You get in the back." He whispered, his voice reverberating in the tiny space.
"Huh? Why? I don't wanna be back there, dude." Abigor replied hastily, clearly a little uneasy."What, are you scared?" Wolf laughed.
"Obviously, this place is creepy as fuck. And I literally live in Hell. Sorta. Sometimes."
Gilles scoffed,
"When was the last time you were actually in Hell?"
"Okay! Okay fine, fuck... it's hot down there. What do you want from me. Go... I'll, I dunno, keep us from getting murdered from behind." Abigor conceded, letting Gilles and Wolf pass him, unimpressed."We've got a bit of a jump down here guys, I don't know where this pool goes, so be careful. This is NOT the place to be breaking any bones. If ya do, we can't get out until we get to the actual tunnels, and they're all gated off up into the quarry. We'd have to break into the tourist tunnels and we are not doing that." Gilles said seriously, looking down at the cascading water falling into the dark cavern he stood at the ledge of. Not liking the scenario one bit.
It was too easy to fuck up down here.
He knew from experience."Any guess how far down that water goes?" Abigor asked from the back. He was basically holding onto Wolfgang to stay as close to another person as possible.
Gilles turned and looked around, scanning the walls for something. Anything. The light of Wolf's flashlight, now in his hands, landed on a symbol spray painted in red, followed by a few barely legible French words."sautez au-delà de la cascade si vous voulez en sortir vivant," he read aloud.
"Well I guess we need to back up and take a run at it then." Abigor offered. Much to both Wolf and Gilles surprise. They turned to look at him, certainly caught off guard.
"Are you telling me right now, that you speak fucking French?" Wolf questioned. He could, but he didn't have a clue Abigor did."I've been around, since before language was even created. I speak everything. I'm a fucking demon." He replied smartly.
"Fair enough. Let's back up, then jump out as far as we can past the fall." Gilles stated.
"How do we know that's not done fucking psycho telling us exactly what NOT to do?" Abigor asked, his voice louder now to hear above the crashing water.
"WE DON'T!" Wolf yelled back.
Wait... why was it suddenly getting so much louder? They all turned around, and to their horror, a wave as high as the ceiling was rushing down the tunnel towards them as the water rose at their waists to their chests.
"THE TUNNEL IS FLOODING, FUCKING GO, NOW!!" Gilles yelled, and without another thought or time to lose, the trio ran to the edge of the drop... and jumped.Plummeting into the cold, murky water as the wave from the tunnel spilled over and pushed them further down the seemingly bottomless pool. They struggled to fight the current and reach the surface, but it was too much. And they could only hold their breath for so long...
