Margot let out a grunt as she jumped and served the ball. It swerved and her teammate over the net dove for it, saving it. Margot smiled to herself.

"That was amazing" She smiled nodding. Her teammate smiled and skipped off court, another taking her old spot. Margot crouched slightly, preparing to serve again.

"Margot" A girl said from behind her. Margot froze and turned, looking behind her.

"Jackson?" Margot asked, nodding her head to her. Jackson shook her head.

"Can we talk? In private?" Jackson asked, looking at the team on the other side of the net. Margot furrowed her eyebrows then nodded. She waved someone over and had them serve.

Margot wiped her face with her shirt as she led Jackson over to the coach office.

"What's up?" Margot asked, leaning against the desk and crossing her arms.

"No one wants Regina on the team" She shrugged, looking Margot up and down. Margot raised an eyebrow in response.

"We've already talked about this-"

"And you're our team captain, Margot" Jackson said in an agressive voice. Her dirty blonde hair swung behind her in a high Ponytail. Margot quieted down and listened to her teammate. "Regina bullied us all for years, you can't just let her on the team and act like she didn't do anything"

"She did not bully anyone" Margot rolled her eyes standing up straight, causing Jackson to take a step backwards. "Regina said some fucked shit about everyone in like half a sentence in a children's book. Just because she ignored anyone she considered an extra doesn't mean she has a personal vendetta against anyone." Margot defended.

Jackson swallowed, her eyes beginning to swell with tears as she looked down.

"Do you know what she said about me?" She asked. Margot sighed and stayed quiet, allowing her to continue. "She..." Jackson began, looking away from Margot. "She said I slept with the history teacher. Mr. Rudd" Jackson said, a tear falling down her cheek.

Margot raised an eyebrow. As far as she knew... Jackson did. Margot hesitated for a second. "Didn't you...?" She asked quietly. Jackson glared at Margot.

She shuffled on her feet then rolled her eyes, turning to Margot. "That's not the point!" She began. Margot narrowed her eyes.

"Did the team put you up to this?" Margot asked, taking a step towards Jackson. Jackson let out a shaky sigh and nodded her head.

"Well... What Regina and her group of girls wrote in that book... has all been true from what I've heard. And Regina is sorry- but she is a person. The world didn't stop spinning when those pages were exposed- and the world will continue to spin when she gets here. Tell the rest of the team if they bring this up again we're running 8's on the stadium until everyone fucking vomits."

Jackson's eyes widened as she stared at Margot, her eyes lingering on the malice written across Margot's face. A question ran through her head.

Jackson shook her head and turned, opening the door and leaving the coach's office. Margot sighed, her shoulders slouching as she turned around and leaned on the desk.

She hates this. Defending Regina against the group of girls who have been there for her for every game- every play- every day for four years. But Margot felt a tightness in her chest whenever someone brought up Regina.

She felt angry. Angry that they could talk about her in a horrible way so casually as if she wasn't a human too. Maybe she was too sympathetic...

"'Sup coach" Regina said from the doorway. Margot startled and turned her head, noticing Regina. She sighed to herself and rubbed her face with her hand as she turned around.
