Sakura really wished she hadn't woken up. The reality was so much worse than pretty dreamland where all she did was sing and take care of her cat.
In moments like this she seriously considered leaving all things behind and living somewhere remote with her cat.
Her parents left the wedding earlier than her, so Sakura was left without a driver. Gaara, who was very kind and considerate the whole evening, offered to take her but the girls chimed in and proposed to have a sleepover. Sakura who was too drunk to do anything, straight up went to bed when they arrived at Tenten's place.
However, the following morning was a rollercoaster of emotions. Five minutes after waking up, everything dawned up on her. Sakura felt horrible. Her head was spinning, she was dizzy and the memories were literally crashing over her.
A cup of coffee did help but when the girls started going over yesterday's events, all the sourness returned. Hinata left to meet up with her sister, while Tenten, Temari and Sakura stayed there. The duo looked through pictures and videos, laughing and grinning while Sakura tried to share their levity, she felt like a black hole had formed inside her and tried to gulp her down.
She talked to Sasuke yesterday.
She actually did.
Or he did.
Whichever it was, Sakura did not plan on it. She just wanted to have fun, enjoy her best friend's wedding without past heartache, but unlike Naruto's wedding, Sasuke actually stopped her, and even said few words.
It shouldn't have bothered her so much. They broke up years ago. But the pain he caused cut so deep through her skin that it was now embedded all over her.
But there was more good going on last night than bed. After Temari helped her channel her inner strength and forget about her encounter with Uchiha, Sakura drank with her friends, sang-along and conversed with Gaara for hours!
And truth be told, she actually enjoyed it.
Turns out, they had a lot in common. Both of them had obnoxious friends who they loved very much, abundance of duties to their loved ones, responsibilities coming from their jobs and a passion for music. The last one was especially important for Sakura. She told Gaara about her issue with writing lately and he even volunteered to help her out!
He really was perfect.
Sakura has never felt so relaxed with someone for years. Gaara really had a way with words.
Something her previous boyfriend lacked.
Plus, there was so much more to him she didn't realize or notice before. Temari was right to suggest them going as dates.
But Sakura hadn't heard from him since he dropped the girls at Tenten's place. And she was started to get worried.
What if Gaara didn't enjoy spending time with her?
And worse, what if it was all in Sakura's head?
"Earth to Sakura!" Tenten waved her hand in front of pinkette's face. "We just asked you if you want the pie."
"Oh, no, thank you." Sakura replied with a sheepish smile.
"What were you pondering about?" Temari questioned while raising an eyebrow and sipping her coffee.
"I... nothing." Sakura answered and blood rush to her cheeks.
"You're blushing," Tenten remarked. "This can't be good."
"Don't channel your inner Ino, please." Sakura pleaded. "How are the boys doing?" She hoped a subject change would allow them to quit with the questions but one glance at Temari's skeptical expression and Sakura knew she would be interrogated later.
