Months passed after the joyful birthday celebration, and the Tan family found themselves reflecting on their past. Despite the challenges they had overcome, they knew that a significant chapter remained unresolved—their relationship with Seon and Shane, who were serving time in prison for their wrongdoings.

Daniel and Kim Yong discussed the idea of visiting the two brothers. “Forgiveness is a powerful thing,” Kim said thoughtfully. “It doesn’t mean forgetting what happened, but it could help us all heal.”

Yabi and Yna, though unsure, expressed their willingness to support their parents. They understood the importance of family, even when it was complicated. With heavy hearts but hopeful spirits, the Tan family made their way to the prison.

Upon arrival, they were led into a visiting area, the starkness of the environment contrasting sharply with their warm memories of family gatherings. Seon and Shane entered, looking older and wearier than the last time they had seen them.
“Thank you for coming,” Seon said, his voice tinged with regret. Shane shifted uncomfortably, unable to meet their eyes.

Kim took a deep breath. “We wanted to talk. We’ve all been through so much, and it’s time to find some closure.”

Yabi and Yna sat quietly, observing the conversation unfold. Daniel spoke next, his tone steady. “What you did hurt our family deeply, but we’re here today to say that we’re ready to forgive.”

Seon looked up, surprised. “You don’t have to do that. We don’t deserve your forgiveness.”

“Maybe not,” Kim replied softly. “But holding onto anger only harms us. We want to move forward, for the sake of our family.”

The room fell silent as the weight of her words sank in. Shane finally spoke, his voice breaking. “We’re truly sorry for everything. We never wanted to hurt you.”

Yabi and Yna exchanged glances, their young hearts sensing the gravity of the moment. “We hope you can change,” Yna said earnestly. “Everyone makes mistakes, but you can learn from them.”

Seon nodded, his eyes filled with emotion. “We will. We want to be better.”

As they shared stories and memories, the atmosphere began to shift. Laughter and tears intertwined as the Tan family recounted happier times, reminding everyone of the love that once bound them.

Before leaving, Kim reached out, placing her hand on the table between them. “We forgive you, but we also need time to heal. We hope that you will take this chance to become better people.”

Seon and Shane nodded, understanding the path ahead wouldn’t be easy but feeling the weight of a burden lifted. As the visit concluded, the Tan family left with a sense of hope. They had taken a significant step toward healing—not just for themselves, but for Seon and Shane as well.

Outside the prison, Yabi looked up at her parents. “Do you think they’ll change?”

Daniel replied, “Change takes time, but they have to want it. We can only support them from here.”

As they walked away, the sun broke through the clouds, casting a warm glow over the family. Together, they embraced the journey of forgiveness, knowing that while the road ahead might be challenging, they were stronger together.
