The next morning they wasted no time, they needed to try to contact the military base, they couldn't stay there for long. They had already tried a few days with poor results, today was the day to try again.Ben had woken up early in the morning and since then he was leaning over that radio trying to do something. Mal didn't understand anything of what he was doing even though she was following him step by step, so she limited herself to keeping him company. At a certain point he put on his headphones and turned the crank <yes, military base M-127...yes yes it's us>The Beast ran there from the cellar <have we made contact?>Mal signaled him to be quiet while Ben listened silently <Ben, the queen, the king, the Fairy Godmother, Jane, Evie and Mal....exactly we were supposed to arrive a few days ago...we are in a villa far from the palace...coordinates? About 20 degrees North West.. no I can't confirm it...it's not possible for me...special details? Sure, half of a destroyed plane next to the villa....yes I wait....really?...perfect, we're waiting for you> Ben took off his headphones and turned slowly. Behind him everyone was a few centimeters from his face <so?> they shouted in chorus<They're coming to get us>The shouts of joy were so huge that they even scared the zombies themselves <when!!?><They said that zombies are less active at sunset, they'll arrive at that time><And now we're celebrating> they went to get all the remaining wine and started drinking already in the morning before lunch. They drank so much and shouted so much that they didn't hear the sound of a glass breaking...but Hades did.<RUN UPSTAIRS FAST!> she suddenly yelled, getting up from the table<What?> Evie staggered to her feet<GET A MOVE ON> that second yell, louder than before, woke them up, Ade grabbed Evie and threw her towards the stairs <YOU WANT TO DIE!>Like an enraged mob, they stood up, knocked over the table, chairs, sofa and radio to rush upstairs. From the living room windows, many of those zombies fell in <they weren't afraid of glass!!!> Mal yelled, getting up from where she had fallen. The zombies were so close to grab her leg, she felt their hands brush against her and then... grab her. She screamed at the top of her lungs.<Mallll> Ben yelled, she saw him come back"No Ben don't come, don't come"<I SAID TO GO UPSTAIRS!> first his voice then his body interfered with her senses. She saw his body cover her completely, the hands that were holding her ankle disappeared from her leg, she was wrapped in a black cloak.Hades was lying on top of her, his face on hers, his wings covered their sides closing her inside that black box."How big are they?"Hades' elbows were on her shoulders, he was supporting himself with them keeping himself lifted by her who had room to move a few centimeters.<What? What...> the alcohol was slowly wearing off.<Tsk, you ugly beings, you shouldn't have been afraid of that fucking glass>< Hades...what...what are you doing...Ben...><They're all safe, the zombies have no reason to go to them> her dark blue hair fell along her face touching her nose.<Why...they want to bite us...they...><There's only one way to stop them then...> the green eyes stared into hers <just feed them>Mal's eyes widened in terror <no, don't tell me that...>Ade shrugged <I'll survive><No, Ade you're crazy, I won't...> Ade's body was violently moved to the right, Ade gritted his teeth and closed his eyes but remained where he was, on top of her like a shell.<Ade!><I'm fine> he breathed deeply, a trickle of blood came out of his lips. A bang next to Mal made her jump, for a moment she saw a piece of the outside, the floor was soaked in fresh blood, the zombies were stirring excitedly.<Ade!><I'm fine>, a smile on his face <don't worry>Mal reached out to his face, Ade remained still but in his eyes remained the shock and perhaps the fear. With his hand he cleaned the trickle of blood and his gaze softened.<Was there no other way?><It didn't seem right to destroy a cellar with such good wine><What if we went upstairs?><Did you see the condition of the door? It wouldn't have held>Mal sighed <how long would we have to stay like this?><I hope as little as possible...ah> he was shaken by violent coughs of dark blood, a low moan followed the fall of the liquid beside Mal.<Ade!> Mal put a hand on his tense face, shortly after another cough and then she felt a huge weight suddenly fall on her legs <Ade> her legs had given way as they were no longer supported by muscles and tendons. She felt them weighing on her, she felt them being moved violently from side to side.Ade was panting slightly <shit>, a wet and warm drop fell on her arm. Mal looked down, Ade's bandages were stained red again. She looked at his shoulder, same condition.<The wounds, they've reopened> she told him and touching his shoulder. He only opened one eye, the other closed to represent the pain he felt <they'll close> he replied still panting.I wonder what they were doing to him out there, you could feel the monsters moving his body. His face was really hurt.Mal reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck, neither of them said anything until they couldn't feel his body moving anymore.<Are they gone?>Hades gasped one last time as Mal lay back on the ground<Yes...yes...> a dull sob came from Hades' throat before he fell on top of Mal. His wings disappeared like a black fog.<Hades! Hades!> Mal started shaking him, when she took her hands off his back they were soaked in blood <ADEEE! Hades, Hades. Help!>The others ran down from upstairs <They're gone...Mallll!> Evie ran down the stairs<Mal what? Oh god, oh god, oh god, help!> Evie screamedBen came running with the others in tow <by all the demons in hell> the Beast snarled, Belle fainted.<Help me! Help him!> Evie lunged at Mal and with Ben they spun Hades away from her who immediately stood up.<What is...?>Tears came out of Mal's eyes as she saw his body <he protected me, he protected all of us by letting himself...be devoured> his back showed his ribs and blood covered everything. His spine was clearly visible under the torn flesh.Mal grabbed his face <Ade! Ade! Can you hear me? Please answer! Take back Ade! Open your eyes, breathe, do something but don't die!!>The Fairy approached him <in my suitcase, take a random dress quickly>Evie ran to rummage through the suitcases, the room had blood spatters everywhere and the suitcases were covered in it.<Ade, speak please> Mal touched his face, she wanted him to wake up, he couldn't have died because of her. It was the first time she had seen his eyes closed and now she wanted that peace and that pain that remained in his face to disappear to see the grumpy look he had always had.She had seen his eyelids closed only once and already she wanted them to open again.Evie brought a dress to the Fairy who tore it and tried to bandage Ade's body as best she could. The rags filled with blood even before touching him.<Bring me one more> the Fairy shouted to Evie.A dull moan accompanied the opening of the god's green eyes.<Hades!> Mal shouted. He coughed up dark blood, panting, he looked at her for a moment <all... alive?> he sighed<Yes> Mal nodded, shedding a few tears<Don't cry... I'll be fine, you'll see> a white smile appeared among all that red. Mal couldn't help but nod again, the Fairy wrapped him up again in blood-soaked rags.<Can you do something?> the Fairy asked him softly with her hands full of bloody bandages. He shook his head slowly <he can't move anymore...Mal help me here><It looks like a butcher's room> said the Beast, looking at the god lying on the ground panting without the strength to get up.<The zombies aren't coming any closer, though> Jane looked out the window, those beings were walking back and forth without attacking them.<Mal, you who are already full of blood, take Hades' head and put it on your knees, we have to keep his head up or he will suffocate in his own blood> the Fairy had searched far and wide for some soft pillow but the zombies had destroyed everything. A hurricane would have done less damage. She delicately took his head and placed it gently on her legs. Rivers of red liquid came out of every corner. Red lines passed over his face and eyes, he grimaced as his body adapted to the new position.<I don't know what to do anymore> the Fairy stood up looking at him. Belle had meanwhile recovered and the Beast was waving his hand in front of her face to keep her from fainting.<I'm calm> then she turned her gaze approaching Hades, he was looking at her with his breathing alternating with dull sobs. She put a hand on his cheek <Thank you> her eyes answered for him<How long until the military arrive?> Mal didn't even dare touch him for fear of hurting him.Ben looked outside <in two or three hours><Won't the blood attract monsters?> Belle sat outside the window not daring to look inside<Not yet> Evie looked around her living room <well...I wanted to remodel it> she was always optimistic, Mal smiled at her hoping the helicopter would arrive as soon as possible.
