The morning light filtered softly through the curtains as Ayati lay back in the bathtub, the warm water lapping gently against her skin. Her head rested against the cool edge, but her mind was far from the present, drifting back to last night on the terrace. The warmth of the water did little to ease the heat she felt as her heart raced, her thoughts consumed by Mayank.

Her hand moved absentmindedly, tracing a path up to her neck, fingers brushing the spot where dark brown eyes had leaned in, his voice low, deep, and filled with warning. She could still hear it as clearly as if he were standing behind her now.

*"Don't test me, Ayati,"* his voice echoed in her mind, the weight of his words sending a shiver down her spine.

Her breath hitched as her fingertips lingered over the delicate skin, remembering the way his proximity had made her pulse quicken, how his gaze had held hers in a way that made her feel both safe and on edge. The night had been filled with unsaid things, emotions that neither of them had the courage to fully admit. But that moment, when his voice dropped to a dangerous whisper, had stirred something deep within her.

Her eyes fluttered shut, the sound of the water gently splashing as she shifted in the tub. The memory of his voice, the warmth of his breath against her skin, made her body tense in the water, a knot forming in her chest. She should’ve been able to let the moment go, but instead, it lingered, wrapping around her thoughts and heart, holding her captive.

She bit her lip, her hand lowering into the water as she let out a slow breath.

“Di, are you ready?” Ayati heard Reev’s voice, her gentle knock breaking through the haze of her thoughts. She blinked, startled, as the sound brought her back to the present.

Her heart still raced, but she quickly composed herself, rising from the seat in front of her dressing table. She ran a hand through her still damp hair and made her way to the door, tying her bathrobe a little tighter as she reached for the handle.

With a deep breath, she opened the door, her smile already forming ,"good morning, baby " She greeted her.Reev stood there, her eyes curious, but her expression brightened the moment she saw her di.

“ good morning di,Finally! I thought you were going to stay in there forever,” she teased, grinning up at her.

She chuckled softly, trying to hide the remnants of her flushed face. “Just needed a little time to myself,” she said, her tone light, though her mind still lingered on the memories that had surfaced in the bath.

“Come on, we’re waiting downstairs,” Reev said, turning on her heels and walking away. Ayati closed the door behind her, letting out a soft sigh. She could still feel the warmth of the moment with him clinging to her, but now, with Reev’s knock pulling her back to reality, she pushed those thoughts aside, knowing she'd have to face the day—and the people waiting for her downstairs.

Her heart thudded in her chest as she stood in front of the mirror, knowing there would be a certain someone waiting downstairs. The thought of Mayank, of his deep voice and the way he had looked at her the night before, made her pulse race faster.

She slipped into the beautiful flower-printed anarkali suit chosen for today’s mehndi ceremony, the soft fabric flowing gracefully around her. The color suited her perfectly, and the code had been decided well in advance. She fastened her earrings, the jhumkas hanging elegantly, and slid on the delicate bangles, their soft jingling filling the quiet room.
