TARAJI

I intertwined my finger's with Fantasia's, using my other hand to caress her arm as Kennedy walked up to us, trying to keep her calm. Sarai wasn't paying attention to us because she was so lost in taking pictures with her car with all of her friends, and I was thankful for that. I want to believe that Kennedy got her this lavish truck to make her happy, but I'm not that naive. She did this to try to upstage me, maybe even Fantasia, but definitely me for sure. She has it out for me because she believes that I stole what belonged to her, but she didn't handle her family with care. It wasn't hard to take what belonged to her because she acted like she didn't want it.

Kennedy: Hi Fantasia, Taraji. Wow, you two really pulled out all the stops with this party. Everything looks amazing.

Fantasia: Kennedy, what the hell are you doing?

Kennedy: What do you mean?

Fantasia: Don't play with me, you know exactly what the fuck I'm talking about.

Taraji: Tasia-

Fantasia: I'll stay calm. I just want to know where you got the nerve to buy our daughter a car like this without talking to me about it first? Her Porsche is perfectly fine and it's only a year old. You should have included me in this.

Kennedy: Why are you trying to make me feel like a bad parent for making our daughter happy? This isn't a competition of who's the better mom.

Fantasia: So then why does it feel like you made it one? You know what, you don't have to answer that. You did what you came to do, so you can just go now.

Before Kennedy could respond, Sarai came running over and threw herself into her arms, hugging her tightly as she squealed happily.

Sarai: Thank you so much mom! It's beautiful! I love it! I love you. I'm sorry that I told you that you couldn't come to my party.

Kennedy: It's ok, baby girl. I can't fault you for defending your mom. I was wrong.

Sarai: Well, you're here now, so you might as well stay. There's still plenty of food and cake left.

Kennedy looked between me and Fantasia, and I rolled my eyes internally, knowing that she was going to find a way to make us look like heartless monsters in front of Sarai. She knows that we don't want her here, but all of a sudden Sarai wants her here. Nobody wants to disappoint the birthday girl.
