Theo smacked a hand down on his alarm for the fifth time and groaned. If he didn't get up then, his day would be spent under his blanket. He sighed and stretched his legs before slowly getting ready for the day, checking off each task on his daily to-do list.

Take medicine, check. Brush teeth, check. Few minutes of self-loathing, check. If he didn't check everything off as he went, he would lay in bed all day, which he couldn't afford. He had a date with a gorgeous woman that night and nothing would keep him from it.

He smiled to himself, thinking about Sophie. She was like a little beam of light in the darkness. He loved her more than he had ever loved anyone, other than his best friends. She made them all closer. Just the way she had dissolved Victor's barriers was more than impressive.

Theo finished getting dressed and walked downstairs to join everyone in the kitchen. He greeted them and gave a smile, trying to not think too hard about all of the noises going on around him. The pots clinking as Victor cooked, Chase's leg bouncing anxiously, forks scraping against glass plates. He ignored it and pulled out his Switch as he usually did.

Victor gave a rare genuine smile that Theo had missed and placed a plate in front of him. The food was perfectly laid out, none of it touching each other or the sides of the plate. He relaxed and began eating.

"Theo," Sophie said in her soft, angelic voice. He placed his fork down and gave her his full attention.

"Yes, Bambi?"

She hopped off of her chair and crawled into his lap. "I'm excited for our date tonight."

Theo breathed in her strawberry scent and relaxed, wrapping his arms around her small frame. A perfect fit. "Me too, Sophie."

She looked at him with those pretty doe eyes. "Aren't you going to keep eating?" He frowned. Nothing got past Sophie. His mind was very simple; he could either focus on eating or he could focus on the beautiful girl in his lap - never both. It was hard for him to feel hungry sometimes, especially when he would hyper-focus on something. Sophie was his current fixation.

He shook his head. "Not really hungry."

She frowned and grabbed a fork full of food, bringing it up to his lips. "Open," she said.

He smirked down at her. "Yes, ma'am." Despite the pieces of egg touching bits of bacon, Theo gladly let Sophie feed him. Somehow it made the food taste just that much better.

She continued feeding him and then began reciting strange facts. She was after his heart. "Did you know that there are two million ants per one person on earth?"

Theo grinned. "So you're telling me I could start my own little ant army?" She giggled and he thought for a second, searching his brain for his own facts. Anything to see that brilliant smile on her face. "Did you know that in 1919, two million gallons of molasses exploded in Boston and caused a thirty-five mile per hour wave that caused millions in property damage and injured tons of people?"

Sophie blinked. "That much sugar sounds like a dream."

He cracked a grin and the two of them continued spewing facts until Theo's plate was clear and the other guys just sat there, enjoying all of the weird knowledge.

Theo looked at Sophie and felt emotional. Whenever she was around it felt like it dulled his messed up brain, different from the awful numbness that his medicine brought. He smiled and leaned down, pulling her into a kiss. She immediately reciprocated with her soft lips. Theo pulled back and appreciated how flushed she looked. "What was that for?", she asked breathlessly.

"Just felt like it." He pinched her hip and she yelped. He grinned and leaned into her ear. "I can't wait for our date, either, Bambi."

A few hours later, Theo was sitting in the living room, waiting for Sophie to finish getting ready. He felt nervous with so many unknowns, like going to a restaurant he had never been to or the new button-up shirt he had bought that made his skin itch.

Before he could psych himself out, he caught a flash to his right and looked to where Sophie was descending the stairs. He met her there and took in every curve of her body.

"You look ravishing, Bambi." She flushed and he held out an arm. "Shall we?"

She looped her small arm in his and they got in the car before driving to the restaurant.

The restaurant owners arguing from the kitchen should have been a sign to leave, but Theo ignored it, determined to make it the best night ever for Sophie.

The hostess guided them to a small booth under a bright light and handed them two overwhelmingly large menus. Theo took a deep breath and tried to calm his nerves.

He braved a glance at Sophie and noticed that she looked the exact same as he felt. Overwhelmed, anxious.

The restaurant was loud and crowded with dishes clinking and people chattering away. It was fancier than he was used to, which only added to his nerves.

"Theo." Sophie's voice came out muffled. He tried to focus his vision on her but all he could hear and see was people eating too loudly or not closing their mouths as they chewed. Off to another corner, a baby was crying. Theo broke away from his thoughts when Sophie grabbed his hand. "Do you want to go somewhere else?"

He felt so horrible as the words left her mouth. He looked her in the eyes. She looked disappointed. God, why couldn't he just be normal? "You would do that for me?" Theo could usually rely on his humor in situations where he just didn't feel like he fit, but there were too many sounds and the light above them was too bright.

"Oh it's not completely selfless, I'm a wreck right now." He smiled softly at her. "Let's just go get something simple and go find an adventure beyond the city, yeah?"

He could feel his eyes water a little as he stared at her. "I wouldlove that."

The two of them ditched the stuffy restaurant and grabbed burgers and shakes before they drove to a lookout. The view spanned a large portion of the city, with lights beginning to turn on across the landscape. There was no one there but them and it was perfect. Sophie turned in the driver seat to the back and grabbed a blanket. "Come on."

Theo followed her out of the car and she laid the blanket out on the grass. She plopped down and patted the ground next to her. Theo happily obliged and they watched the sky slowly fade from orange to black. Theo took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Sophie."

She looked at him with furrowed brows. "For what?"

"For being a spazz," he whispered. He looked down at his lap, too ashamed to meet her gaze. When she didn't say anything, he looked over at her and was met with an angry gaze.

"Theodore middle name King. You are not a spazz." She glared at him and he just smirked.

"Tough little one."

She frowned and looked at him. "Take off your shirt."

He lifted a brow. "Trying to get my clothes off all ready, Bambi?"

She rolled her pretty eyes at him. "It's been bugging you since we left home." He blinked and hesitantly unbuttoned his shirt. Sophie's eyes lingered for a moment before she patted her lap. Theo laid his head down and nearly moaned at the feeling of her little fingers through his hair. He breathed deeply as she massaged his scalp. After a moment, she sighed. "I know what it's like to feel like your brain is wired differently or like you're broken. Society makes people like us think we're broken or they ignore us because our disorders aren't visible. You are more than your ADHD, though, Theo. You might think it makes you a spazz, but I think it's your superpower." Theo couldn't stop the tears this time as she spoke. She was so patient and gentle and made him feel understood. "I think your ADHD lets you focus on the things that matter most and it makes you love that much harder."

Theo took a deep breath and tried to wipe his eyes. "Thank you, Bambi." He sat up, their faces inches apart. "I love you so much."

"I love you too," she said, her voice cracking. Theo pulled her in for a deep kiss, ensuring she felt his every emotion.

He pulled back and the two of them laid together under the stars that night, a deeper bond forever tethered between them.
