Colby's P.O.V

The sun was starting going down now, casting a warm energy across the living room, as the sounds of gaming filled the air. Sam and I shouted excitedly at the TV, our avatars battling it out in the latest fighter game.

Clhoie was still here, sitting besides me on the couch, her laughter mingling with ours. I looked over at her, she looked so peacefull siting there. It felt good to see her calm, without the demons constelty figting in her head.

"Yeah, take that!" Sam yelled, successfully making a move that sent my character flying off the screen.

"Not for long!" I shot back, my fingers racing over the controller.

"You're both terrible," Clhoie teased, her hair glowing in the fading light, a little smile dancing on her lips. It was moments like these that reminded me how much I adored having her around.

After a few other rounds, I felt my energy start to wane. Clhoie had been snacking on the popcorn Sam and I had made earlier, and I wondered if she would like something sweeter. A thought hit me, and I glanced over at Sam.

"Hey, Sam, can you help me win this level?" I said casually, a plan forming.

"Sure," he replied, taking my controler and started to play without a second thought. That was my chance.

"Clhoie, wanna come help me get some snacks?" I asked, directing my eyes at her, hoping the slight tension in my voice didn't give away how nervous I was.

"Sure! I could go for something sweet," she replied, pushing herself up from the couch. As we made our way to the kitchen, I tried to clear the butterflies from my stomach. I had a big crush on her back when we we're teenagers, and since she came back again i could feel my feeling's doing the same. And right now felt like the right time to finally say something.

The kitchen was dimly lit, the light casting a soft glow over the sink. We rummaged through the cabinets, laughing softly as we fought over the last box of cookies.

"I can't believe you ate the last of the brownies!" she exclaimed, a fake angry look plastered on her face.

"Guilty as charged!" I said with a smirk. "But seriously, you should've seen my face when I realized they were gone."

As we reached for the same box of cookies, our fingers brushed against each other. I felt a spark, nerves bubbling up all at once. Steeling myself, I finally turned to her, trying to meet her gaze.

"Clhoie," I started, the weight of her name lingered in the air around us. "I—"

"Yeah?" She looked up, her brown eyes wide and curious, and my heart raced.

"I wanted to talk to you about something... um, not video game related," I stammered, trying to sound more confident than I felt.

"Okay?" she replied, tilting her head slightly.

"So, I was wondering if... if you'd like to go out with me sometime?" The words tumbled out, impulsive yet full of hope.

Clhoie's P.O.V

"So i was wondering if... if you'd like to go out with me sometime?" Colby said, looking me deep into my eyes. What?

My expression shifted from curiosity to surprise, and for a moment i didn't think abour anything else then the two of us.

"I—um Colby," i breathed out, i could feel my cheeks flushing. "I didn't expect that!"

"I know" He said, taking a paus to breath. "But I really like you, Clhoie. Like, more than just as friends, i have for a long time."

A silence hung between us, stretched thin and filled with unspoken thoughts. I could practicly hear his heart pound in his chest, waiting for my response. I could hear Sam in the other room yelling out, clearly engrossed in his game, but in this moment, everything else faded away.

I let out a breathy laugh, my nerves clearly melting away. "I like you too, Colby! I just didn't know if you felt the same. I'd love to go out with you!" I said.

The relief flooding through the air was intoxicating. "Really? I mean, wow. That's great! We can figure out when after this crazy gaming marathon." Colby said with a light laugh.

"Sounds like a plan," i said, my smile remaining as i leaned back against the counter.

From that moment, things felt different but incredibly exciting. As we returned to the living room with our snacks, I glanced at him, the knowledge of our new dynamic fluttering inside me. Sam held no clue about our little conversation, and for now, it was just ours to cherish.

We settled back into the game, but now every laugh, every playful jab, hung in the air with something unspoken—something electric. With Colby by my side again, the night had turned into a new adventure, one that I was ready to embrace.

I still couldn't belive he finally asked me out after all these years. I had missed him so much.
