Ryujin was resting her arms on the table, reading the news on her phone since she hadn't had the chance to read them that morning, while Yeji was cooking her dinner.
—We have work tomorrow— Yeji said, trying to start a conversation.
—Yes, actually there's an interesting news here— Ryujin replied without taking her eyes off her phone. —It seems a fight between a couple ended badly, but nothing is confirmed yet.— She sighed. —It's just a matter of seconds before...— she noticed the message she had been waiting for from Mr. Jinwoo had arrived. —I'm in charge of the case— she sighed again, as over time she had lost the right to have an opinion.
—Oh, and what do you think about it?— Yeji asked, looking at her. Ryujin shrugged while reading the new information that came with Mr. Jinwoo's message.
—I think it was the guy. It says here that the girl was killed with a few knife cuts, and it happened in a kitchen— she said, trying to picture the scene in her head. —The guy says it wasn't him, there was no one else, and the blood types don't match. Done.— She sighed, setting her phone aside.
—That fast?— Yeji asked, serving Ryujin her precious cup of coffee.
—I already sent my report. Now I just have to wait for more information. That's how I work— she said, watching Yeji place a coffee and a sandwich in front of her. —Is this for me?— she looked at her blushing while Yeji nodded.
—For you— Yeji smiled, sitting down with a cup of coffee in her hands. Ryujin noticed that Yeji hadn't made anything to eat for herself.
—For us— Ryujin smiled, taking half of the sandwich and handing it to Yeji, who looked a little confused but accepted it, blushing slightly.
—For us— Yeji repeated with an inevitable smile. She didn't expect that gesture from Ryujin.
...
—Yes, I already sent the report. Maybe the guy's lawyer will contact me— Ryujin replied over the phone while Yeji was sitting in her chair reading a copy of the report Ryujin had sent. —Alright. Goodbye— she said before hanging up and turning her gaze to Yeji. —I think I need to get another chair— Ryujin joked.
—Oh, it's just very comfortable— Yeji laughed, looking at her. —But don't worry, I'll get up soon.—
—I don't know what 'soon' means for you— Ryujin laughed a little, —but this lawyer needs to sit down— she laughed again.
—Did the guy's lawyer arrive?— Yeji asked, confused, seeing Ryujin read the message she had received.
—Yes— she replied with a sigh.
Everyone noticed a man with brown hair, although not carefully styled, with a few strands sticking out over his forehead, eyes of the same color, and wearing a formal suit, entering with a man who looked noticeably less formal. They walked quickly straight to Shin Ryujin's office, and some people recognized him.
—How dare you say my client is the murderer?— the man asked directly, trying to hide the smile seeing her provoked. Ryujin gave a sarcastic smile and turned to meet those deep brown eyes, which once sparkled for her.
—If he's not, then why does he need a lawyer?— she asked, tilting her head.
—For that very reason, darling— he replied, letting his smile show, accompanied by dimples. —Because you're accusing him of being the murderer, and it's not true.— Ryujin shook her head.
—The law isn't based on what's true or false; it's based on what can be proven— she smiled confidently, crossing her arms, —and I can prove it to you.—
