After nearly three hours in an old mechanic shop Michael had figured the deadhead attack was over and it might be safe to head back to the van, Jay had fallen asleep so Michael stood to his feet and stretched before stepping outside to see if the coast was clear.
He stepped outside with the sunlight blinding him for a moment before his eyes adjusted, old buildings, debris, and wrecked cars littered the roads and streets, the sun shined bright but everything was still tattered under a gray and gloomy cloud covered world. Never a truly bright day, just bright moments.
Always cold and never comfortable enough they seemed to had just adapted because of no other choice and man did Michael miss the way things were... not everyone did tho.
Looking off in the other direction he could make out a group of ten or so deadheads...no... they weren't moving like deadheads, Michael had no doubt about it in his mind...these were people...and not wanting them to stumble upon him and Jay both be ran into the street to captured their attention before running the other way.
The followed suit.
Thirty minutes later Jay woke up and called out for Michael to no answer, he stood and gathered his head before searching the small building for his friend, no answer and no one around so Jay walked outside confused and feeling a bit alone and kind of afraid.
Looking around he saw a boot print in dirt and followed it, with really no more footprints to follow he decided maybe it's best if he went back to the van and insisted on the help of Laura and Jason, hell maybe Michael couldn't wake him up and was already on the way back.
The didn't seem like Michael tho so with every step back to the van Jay became more and more concerned until he stumbled across something that made his heart stop for a moment before dropping to his stomach, almost back to camp he stumbled across a beaten and mangle faced corpse he paused.
Looking the corpse up and down and realizing from the clothes and build of the body it was no one he knew, still tho... who the fuck was it and where did they come from? Did this have anything to do with his people?... Coming across the hole he was drug in and finding the supplies Michael left that told him what he was terrified to know the answer to, Michael was in fact not on his way back to camp, where the hell was he?
Reaching the van Jay came upon the other corpses from the deadhead attack and was appalled... Who the hell were these people? With panic in his soul Jay opened the van and found only Laura who was crying and in worse shape than ever before.
"What the fuck happened?" Jay asked with shock in his voice "where the fuck is Jason?" Laura wiped her face and replied " motherfucking Malic Jay... he wasn't d-dead... him and a group have been watching us for God knows how long probably just waiting on us to split up" she continued " they... they raped me and Jason... Jason ran off after Malic and I haven't seen him since... that was hours ago Jay" she finished.
"Okay stay here, I'll go find Jason" He said before she began to beg hysterically "PLEASE JAY PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME HERE AGAIN PLEASE"!!
"Alright just shhh... don't call the deadheads back... stick close to me and if you see anything or anyone just whisper... don't panic... I know you're terrified but-" before he could finish she interrupted "I'm not a fucking kid Jay... it's the end of the world and I'm a fucking woman... this isnt my first time being... I was just worried about you...and now I'm worried about Jason and Michael... so let's find them okay?..."
In the dark Jason heard a door slowly creak open and saw the silhouette of a woman in the doorway, the light kept him from seeing her face until she approached him and was slightly able to see her features, she looked him up and down and began to speak.
