It could have ended that day...

Someone's Girl

"So finally I get hold of the lady!", Nolan said when Simi came and settled in the seat across the table facing him.

She agreed to meet him, finally, after Nolan said that he would definitely not talk about it on phone. So they agreed to meet for lunch, on a week day even. She cleared her work faster than necessary that scared Han so much that he started being dramatic.

The CEO of course was adamant about why Simi was in a hurry and whether everything was fine at home. She made it clear that she has somewhere important to be and she needed more than 40 minutes, the usual break time at work. She was allowed to take the break for 1 hour as the CEO wanted to be generous because of her efforts. 

"Pretty dumb for a CEO to be concerned about only one employee, isn't it?", Elena remarked when Simi was about to leave.

So back in the restaurant Simi smiled at Nolan and said, "Make it faster...I have work to do!"

"Woman, you know this isn't how it is done right? And you don't even wanna meet on Sundays...", Nolan whined.

He had already ordered their pre-decided food and so there was more time. "You see, I am leaving next week.", he started.

She nodded and mumbled, "Yep, you are."

"I would like to make it clear that I am still serious about you."

"Yes, you are."

"So, I would want to try dating you. And if you say yes today, I will cancel the flight right now."

Simi stayed silent.

Nolan continued, "Yes, I know you have your problems and I am pretty sure you will not say no."

"Yeah, you are right about that.", she said, raising her eyebrows and taking in the realisation.

"Also, I would like you to know that it will always be you, and that I am sure by now, since we both kind of agreed on what we talked about in the farmhouse."

"Get to the point, brother.", she said tapping her wrist watch.

"I would like our relationship to remain like this as well, but with some clarity. So how about I get an answer, even if it not a Yes."

"What if I say, that even if you do not stay here, even if you date someone else, my feelings would remain as it is?", Simi said and crossed her arms, having finished her food.

"Try a bit more? Open up woman, are you being shy right now?"

She scoffed at this and said, "Only you, sir, can say this and get away with it. I don't tolerate this, not even when George does it."

"Because it's the truth? Be honest, am I wrong, Simi?

"You like embarrassing me that much?"

"Well, since only I have the privilege...so?"

"Have a safe flight, complete the project successfully and get back soon. You know dad took you in the project because I asked him to, right?

"I figured.", he got up, having completed his lunch too. He walked over to Simi and spread his arms open, saying, "Do I get a hug, then, from my awkward and too shy girl?"

"Your, you say?", she asked, beaming, looking up at him.

"Or I could be yours, it's the same either way. Don't let my hug hang like this, have some decency."

She shook her head in disbelief and got up to hug him back. This was the  third man in her life who hugged her, after Eddie and George. But this hug was kind of different, and for the first time she hoped to claim someone, rather than just being someone's girl. The first time she did not have to express her emotions in words or actions, but still someone understood, anyways.
