The Blood Pact

Regulus

Regulus had just recently started a new, unexpected relationship with none other than the sunshine of the Gryffindor house, James Fleamont Potter. No one knew and he was somewhat terrified of what people, no not people, what his family would think.

I enter the Great Hall, last night I had made things with James official. Of all people, I had never thought it would be him I ended up with, but I suppose you can't predict everything. I sat down next to my older sister with James on the other side of me. We hadn't had that talk yet. The one about who we tell. All I wished for was that he hadn't told Vega yet. She's my best friend, despite my complicated relationship with Sirius. She's my rock, always there for me, and the one person in my family I can trust. She and I always know what's going on with each other and this particular day something seemed.. off. I sit down next to James and Vega and exchange a concerned glance with Remus before he heads off into the corridor, hetends to know the most about Vega for some reason.

I look to the side and see James and his wide grin, I assume it's from last night. I can't help but see the smile that spreads onto my face after seeing that infectious idiot.

"Well then, what's this Reggie," Vega says, nudging me with her elbow.

A blush creeps onto my cheeks, despite my attempt to remain nonchalant, I hear James sputter and cough, and I look over to see his face turn a bright red. I glance over at Sirius, a tad nervous, he's as always difficult to read, but I can see the immediate aversion to the thought of his best friend and his boyfriend.

"James Potter!", Sirius barks a deep frown across his face.

"Oh, ignore him. James tell me how it happened," Vega says eagerly, she still has something she's hiding, I can see it in her eyes.

James clears his throat a small shy grin forms on his face while nervously glancing at Sirius, fuming in his seat, "Uh- let's see I was patrolling the halls one night, and uh, Reg was there. We got to talking and hanging out a bit, one thing led to another... and... here we are," He glances at me with what seems to be admiration and a touch of amusement.

"Aww, you two are so cute!", Vega gushes, "Right Sirius," She says teasing him knowing he hates the thought.

Sirius grimaces and his eyes harden, he's quite clearly not as fond of us as our sister.

"Yeah sure," He mutters, a hint of sarcasm.

"Well," Vega says rolling her eyes, "I think you two make a perfect pair! And don't worry James you have my blessing," She says laughing with a mock seriousness.

James chuckles, "Gee, thanks. Your approval means the world to us," He jokes glancing over at me as I fight off a smile, these two aren't doing anything to help my mysterious persona.

Remus walks over to the table looking more tired than before, "Look at them Remus! Aren't they adorable together!", I grimace at being called adorable.

Remus glances at me and James for only a short moment before turning back to her, he manages a small, half-hearted smile, "Yeah... yeah they're lovely," He says softly.

I worry about him a bit, Vega seems to know something is wrong. I hope he is alright, he's a nice person. He reminds me of Vega sometimes, maybe they spend too much time together they're starting to mold together. I laugh softly at the thought. They seem to be having a short conversation until I see Vega's smile fade away. I follow her gaze to the figure approaching. Severus. Our parents seem to love him for some reason I can't figure out. I've noticed him and Vega around each other more often. I don't understand why she would ever willingly do something like that to herself.

"Vega. I need to speak to you," Severus eyes Remus and the rest of the marauders, "Alone."

Why would she allow him to speak to her like that? The Vega I know would never take something like that from Severus of all people. I'm about to say something to him when I watch Vega reluctantly stand up and follow him. Weird.
