The Shah house was a whirlwind of activity, buzzing with energy and adorned with vibrant decorations. People moved in every direction, setting the stage for the day's events—Ganesh Pooja in the morning and Grah Shanti Pooja in the evening.
"Mumma, prasad ready hai kya? (Mom, is the offering ready?)" Rohan called out, his voice carrying over the commotion.
"Haan, pandit ji ko yeh de do. Bhoj laga denge. (Yes, give this to the priest. He'll offer it to the deity.)" his mother replied, handing over a neatly packed tray.
She turned toward Kyra. "Kyra, Mahek ko dekh. Ready hui ya nahi? Ladke wale aate hi honge. (Kyra, check on Mahek. Is she ready? The groom's family will be here any minute.)"
Kyra nodded with a smile, quickly climbing the stairs to Mahek's room. She knocked lightly, and the door opened a crack. Prachi peeked out.
With a silent gesture, Kyra raised her brows, asking, "Where is she?"
Prachi smiled and opened the door wider.
There she was—the bride. Mahek stood near the mirror, radiant in her simplicity, adjusting the pleats of her sari.
"Nazar na lage. (May no evil eye harm you.)" Kyra whispered, taking some kajal from her own eyes and applying a dot behind Mahek's ear.
Mahek scrunched her nose. "Bhabhi, mummy jaisa kar rahi ho aap! (Sister-in-law, you're acting just like Mom!)"
Kyra laughed softly.
"Maa hi toh hai, Mahek. Haina? (I'm your mother too, Mahek. After all, your sister-in-law is your mom too.)," Lisa teased, side-hugging Kyra.
"Haan toh (So what)" Kyra quipped, grinning.
Mahek blushed and smiled. She was dressed in a traditional sari for the Ganesh Pooja, her hair cascading down her back in soft waves.
The Ganesh Pooja marked the beginning of the rest of the wedding festivities, a day filled with prayers and joy.
Downstairs, the groom's squad arrived, welcomed by Kyra and Rohan.
The guest list was intimate—close family and friends only.
"Decoration toh bohot sundar hai. (The decorations are beautiful.)," Avyaan's mother complimented Mahek's mother.
