Chapter 10

Sam and I got brought to a room with Ebs in it. There's a small TV in it. I haven't seen one since the before, it's a weird sight now. They turn it on and we realize there's no TV, it's a security camera.

"Elissa!" I shout in both glee and sadness.

When I had finally calmed down Sam filled me in. I'd been unconscious for days, in which time Elissa had been in a different room and we had no idea how she was. I was aware that she only had ten days left to live, but now, there's only six. It's been eight days since she got taken away and we had no where she was until now.

Sam is still watching the security TV. Elissa looks like she's already dead. There's p*ss on the ground by her and in her legs. She looks like a sack of bones. She was already very skinny but now she looks like a corpse. Her face is gaunt and I can count all of her ribs. She looks scared out of her mind. She keeps screaming, and acting as if there's a person in there with her.

I turn my head and whisper to Sam in a low tone, "We need to save her. She's only got six days left and at this rate she might die before then."

Sam whispers back, "yeah.. let's talk more later when no one can hear us."

When we get back to the room, Aurora runs up to me and hugs my waist as she asks, "Is Elissa ok?!" I look down at her, her eyes are watery and red, like she's been crying.

I don't answer right away. First, walking over to the sick and turning on the water like sludge, it's disgusting, but it does the trick to cover our words from any hidden cameras or microphones. I've never found them so if they're in here they're really well hidden, but if the Eb's find out we're all dead, so better safe than murdered right?

I walk back over to Aurora and hug her back, picking her up off the ground. "She's not doing good now," I say cautiously, trying to keep her from crying. "But," I continue, "she will be, cause, we're going to rescue her and get out of this dump once and for all."

Sam looks at me with a face of disbelief, "what!?" he yells as loud as he dares without alerting the guards.

I lock eyes with him, dead serious. "Here's the plan." I say. "First, I'll distract the EB's at lunch, then you and Aurora can sneak into the kitchen as I lure everyone out to watch me make a scene. Then, locate Elissa's food, and send her a message in Braille.

Since, she learned that in the before." I pause for breath, excited that the plan I had been forming slowly for the past ten minutes was slowly coming together like a puzzle. It was frustrating knowing that I'd had all the pieces and just couldn't put them together correctly.

Now, it was like they were all floating together perfectly, but there were still a few missing pieces. I smiled as I continued explaining the plan. "Get her a message, I say I'll write it you guys just need to get it in her food, somewhere she'd find it, but the cooks wouldn't, OK.

"Roger, that captain." Sam says playfully.

His normal jokey, teasing, demeanor was returning now that he realized we were gonna save Elissa.

"Once I figure out the details for the rest, I'll fill you all in." I tell them.

My brain is trying to figure out escape routes based on what I know and what Elissa remembers. I know that if we can just get Elissa out, she knows the way out. The problem will be getting everyone and a very sick, weak, Elissa out.

I turn to Sam, "I need to figure out a distraction, one that will draw the attention, but not get me or anyone else in trouble cause we all need to be in the same room, when we escape or we won't all get out, alive, that is. We really are playing with death here."
