Now that you know a little more about me, I'll share my actual story...
"No!" I screamed, immediately jerking my hand over my mouth knowing I probably made the worst mistake of my life, maybe the worst mistake to ever exist if that's possible.
The Eb's looked at me with newfound curiosity. The solid black eyes glared at me with an endless pool of tar that could boil. "So, you don't want her to hurt?" Asked the lead Eb doctor, Levi, who was the biggest jerk in the galaxy.
I swear he takes pleasure in our suffering, which he probably does. "Y-yes! P-please don't hurt her, she's so little."
I stutter out, trying to undo my error. Alex looked up with big eyes that could make Hades himself shatter and give up his kingdom of death, but unfortunately, Levi wasn't Hades, he was way worse than the god.
"Well, she's a little girl who was born into this life. Now you either cooperate with us or she won't fare well."
Levi said with a wicked smirk that could make Kronos cower. He looked at me like I was a toy to break. (Jake, we didn't mean it like that!) I swallowed in fear, then gave in to the darkness that was calling from my mind.
'How could I be this stupid? I knew it! I knew it, I knew it! Now they'll hurt her to get to me.' As I was sulking in pity, I heard a loud-pitched scream that reverberated through my eardrums. I snapped my head towards the sound and saw that an Eb had grabbed Aurora's tiny and fragile ear. It was stretching like bright red rubber as her feet dangled above the ground, and her screams echoed in agonizing pain.
"STOP!" I pleaded on deaf ears.
They looked at me with deranged eyes that reflected unhinged thoughts. "I swear I'll cooperate, I swear! Please!"smiled wickedly with their glinting fangs.
"Let her down," Levi said with a dismissive wave of his hand.
He grabbed my arm with sharp nails that drew blood and roughly dragged me to the tall frame of the steel door. As I was being pulled, I caught a glimpse of Aurora who had tears down her face and eyes full of fear. Her terrified sobs that she tried to hold back haunted my heart. She looked grateful but guilty of being saved. I tried to give her a soothing look, as if to say, 'It's okay, you can be happy. I'm willing to pay the risk so you'll be pain-free.'
She seemed to get the message. As soon as the Eb looked away, she scampered out of the room with her hand covering the bloody crimson-red ear. 'It's better if she doesn't see what happens next, hopefully, she'll never have to experience it'. The Eb's yanked me out of the door and walked me down the winding hallway. He would occasionally scan his key card in a slot that made an ear-piercing beep. The hallway lights flickered making the already scary scene scarier. As I was continuing to be dragged, I saw a few scientists that sent shivers up my spine, but the deeper we went the less I saw them. This is bad, really bad. Probably more messed up than I'm used to.
I was already regretting agreeing to do whatever they wanted, then my thoughts immediately turned to, 'No, your job is to protect Aurora and the others.' Suddenly, my mom's voice flashed through my head, "sometimes to protect others you have to protect yourself." Then I saw Aurora's pained face as the Eb held her ear, her screams of sorrow as her ear became permanently deformed. As she walked out her ear had looked like an elf's ear, like one from the old story books our parents used to read to us. Like the ones from the books we read to the littles. 'sorry mom', I thought, 'but they come first not me, not when I'm the most valuable one. The one who can take the most. The one who's supposed to keep them safe.'
Just then Levi stopped, snapping me out of my thoughts and jerking me back to my painful reality. I rammed into him, forcing both of us to stumble, and causing one of his tentacles to wrap around my waist and keep me steady. He tightened the grip to punish me causing me to gasp for breath. I looked around and saw nothing but white the doors, the walls, the floors, everything it was like heaven. 'Hah! I thought that's funny heaven here.... I wish!' No I had never been this deep in the lab before and it scared me I had no idea what lay beyond the white door. 'Sh*t,' I thought, 'well, it's better to embrace it now rather than when it's happening.' With that thought I stopped thinking and simply became the test subject they wanted.
Hi everyone, I hope you are all enjoying this book so far, I'm honestly not sure how I want to finish it or how long it's gonna take or even when I'm gonna update but honestly even if only one person reads this it means a lot to me so thanks! Also, I might post some character designs at some point soon in the next chapters! Shooo, this was a long chapter!
