This story, as many do, starts with Lady Gaga, of course. It was a quiet evening, and a lone high schooler was walking down an old, beaten sidewalk on his way home. He had a pair of earbuds in, a bit clueless to his surroundings. He had just gotten out of school, carelessly disregarding any use of his eyes as he strolled downtown. It was a bit barren, the occasional fellow student passed by, but that was it.
That was perfect, however, as the less people meant less trouble for Cain and what he had planned for tonight. There’s been frequent sightings of a strange person in town, described as having a cloak and… Well, that's about it, nobody can really see past the cloak. But! Cain himself had seen the figure lurking around the old landfill, why was he there? Because he thought it was a great spot to listen to music, and it fared… Reasonably atmospheric? If you're a bit of a weirdo, that is. Cain had planned to confront the mysterious figure himself, not entirely understanding that that wasn’t the best idea he could have come up with. But he was set on doing it, and there wasn’t really any stopping him.
The cloaked figure was only spotted during the dusk, and or nighttime, so naturally Cain would have to wait until then. It gave him time to prepare, however, so he didn’t mind at all. He stepped into his yard, sliding the front door open as he chucked his backpack down beside the shoes. “I’m home,” He briefly called out, yawning a little. Stepping into the kitchen, he saw his little sister eating a PBJ sandwich on the kitchen counter, not before tearing the crusts off, though. “Where’s mom ‘n dad?” He asked. “They’re out,” She replied, breaking up her sentences as she ate. “Getting stuff for that thing at mommy’s work,” She finished, such a simple sentence taking about 9 minutes for her to say. “Oh, yeah, that thing.” He muttered, stepping towards the fridge. “Alright, then, I’ll be in my room if you need me,” He said, grabbing a can of soda. “When AREN’T you in your room?” She said sarcastically, hopping down from the stool she was sitting at. “I dunno, school days,” He shrugged again, laughing a little before exiting the kitchen. Now, he WAS planning on plotting and scheming the best way to catch that cloaked stranger, but, like… That’s a lot of effort, a lot of effort Cain didn’t feel like doing. So, he didn’t
He flopped onto his bed after shutting the door, yawning a little. “It’ll be a small nap, It’s barely even 6,” He thought to himself, quickly dozing off before long. Now, Cain severely underestimated how long he was asleep, as when he woke up, It was around midnight. “… Oops.” He groaned a little, stretching out as he looked around. “Damn, oh well, I still haven’t missed my chance! Uh, Hopefully…” He slid out of bed tiredly, changing out of his oversized blue hoodie and into an oversized dark gray hoodie. Y’know, for stealth purposes. “I guess this was the best outcome, technically, I know for a fact mom ‘n dad aren’t awake right now,” Cain said, grabbing a hefty backpack from his closet. “Probably didn’t need to hide this, but, whatever,”
Cain hauled the backpack over his, who would’ve guessed it, back! Carefully sliding his window open, and climbing out of it. “So happy Abelle got the second story bedroom after all, that would’ve been SO much harder,” He thought to himself, double-checking to see if his parent's bedroom light was off before scurrying out of the yard. Cain walked down the sidewalk for a while, making sure nobody was around, before heading for his target destination: The spooky woods near the landfill.
Cain had never actually seen the figure in the woods, but, the last time he saw the figure was in the landfill. And with how that was positioned, the one place the figure would logically sneak back into, was the woods! And that was about as much thought Cain put into this plan. He just wanted to catch a weirdo, at least it’s good intentioned? Cain reached the landfill soon after. Wanting to hurry just in case he missed them, he had also hoped they appeared in the first place, as he really had no confirmation they would.
