POV Auri:

It has been almost 3 months since Yana left our lives.. It was hard, it felt so empty without her and it still does. Everyone was in shock, the news spread quickly. The morning after the incident the whole world was talking about it, everyone could not believe what had happened. Slowly thousands of flowers, cards, pictures and many more things were placed in front of the gate of the house. It is beautiful to see, but also painful. People still come every day to add new things. The whole world suffered from the loss of the beloved Yana Messi, the queen of football..

The whole family was devastated, it was difficult the first few days and weeks. But everyone is starting to recover a little. Gavi and I also didn't feel like doing anything, we stayed in our house for 1 month and only left it for training. Or to take the kids to school, we notice that the kids are having a hard time. Yana was like a second mother to them. The first nights when Lyci and Léon stayed with us they kept asking where their mother was. It broke me so much. We had said that she was gone for a while, but Léon knew that wasn't the case. I could just see it in him, every night they lay together. Lyci crying and asking where her mother was and Léon comforting her. No child should lose their mother or father at such a young age. After the first few nights I called Antonela and told her that she had to tell them the truth, I just can't handle it myself. Lyci and Léon are now by their grandparents for 2 weeks, so that Gavi and I also have time for our own family.

But what I'm most worried about is Pedri. He hasn't been outside once in 3 months, only for football. He hasn't seen the kids once and I'm really worried. He comes to every training with red eyes and big bags under his eyes. He hasn't said a word to anyone and no one dares to say anything to him. I don't think his beard has been shaved once either, I think I should go and see him. This isn't going well, I know he's having a hard time. But his children need him, they need their father..

''Gav, I'm going to see Pedri.'' He looks up and gives me a small nod. I grab Pedri's house key and go to their house through the backyard. All the windows are closed and the house looks abandoned and dark. I open the back door, the house is full of dust. What has Pedri been doing all this time man.. All the dirty dishes are in the sink and pizza boxes are on the floor. I hear a little bark, I walk a little further into the house and see Nilo standing upright in his basket. He wags his tail and looks at me. I walk over to him, ''Hey Nilo, how are you. I haven't seen you in a long time.'' I pet him, ''Do you know where Pedri is?'' He jumps out of his basket and goes up the stairs, I follow him. He leads me to a closed door, I knock on the door but get no answer. I decide to just go inside, there I immediately find Pedri who is half asleep on his desk. The whole room is full of all kinds of paper, food and even more junk. It stinks, it breaks me to see him like this. I walk over to him and tap him on the shoulder. ''Brother, wake up.''

''Go away.'' ''No, not before I have a talk with you.'' He opens his eyes and looks at me, his bags under his eyes have gotten even worse. ''What have you been doing for 3 months.'' He remains silent, ''Pedri answers me.'' He remains silent again. ''I understand that it is difficult okay, but you are not the only one who is in pain. Your children need you! You haven't spoken to them in 3 months and they are heartbroken. They need their father now that their mother is gone. Please, leave this dark time and spend time with your children. Yana really wouldn't want you to lock yourself up here for the rest of your life.'' His eyes widen, ''3 months? I've been here for 3 months.. 3 months.. Lyci.. Léon.''

He looks at me panicked, his eyes start to fill with tears. ''Calm down, everything will be fine.'' I hug him, ''I'm such a bad father, they deserve so much better. I just left them for 3 months.. I'm such a bad father.. I was so busy looking for the murderer, that I completely forgot about my children.'' ''Brother, you are a good father. I understand that it's hard for you, but you can still make it up to them before it's too late. Christmas is almost here and we would love it if you could be there.''

POV Pedri:

I stand next to Auri in front of my in-laws' door, my hands are shaking and my heart is beating like crazy. ''It's going to be okay, don't worry. No one is angry about what you did, believe me.'' As much as I want to believe it, I just can't. Who leaves their children behind for 3 months and the worst part of it all is that I didn't even realize it. I was so absorbed in looking for the murderer that I just forgot everyone around me. The search was actually useless, because the police gave up the case because there was too little evidence. Scandalous, but they are right. There is too little information, no matter how much I want to continue finding the murderers. I have to take care of my children now, they need me.

I'm not the only one who lost Yana and that thought only occurred to me when Auri came to see me. I'm so stubborn and selfish, but here we go. The door opens and my in-laws appear in the doorway. They both give me a hug, ''come in.'' We walk into the house towards the living room. I can already hear all kinds of voices coming from there, we walk into the living room and I see my two little creatures there. They look up and their eyes get big. ''PAPA!'' They drop their toys and run to me. I sit down on my knees and hug them tightly, I missed them..
