── .✦ THE HALLS OF HOGWARTS were always alive with activity, students rushing to and from classes, chattering about everything from potions essays to quidditch matches. but amidst the usual buzz, you stood out. you were a ray of sunshine, always surrounded by friends, your laugh infectious as it echoed through the corridors. people gravitated toward you - boys lined up for a chance at your attention, and girls aspired to befriend you.

you weren't just popular because you were beautiful; you had a warmth about you that made people feel seen. despite being the social butterfly of slytherin, you were kind, genuine, and fierce when it came to protecting your friends. pansy parkinson, your closest confidante, often teased you for your ability to light up a room without even trying. but there was something you hadn't shared with anyone, not even pansy - the quiet boy who had captured your attention.

theodore nott.

he wasn't like his friends. while mattheo, draco, blaise, and pansy dominated the social scene with their charisma and sharp tongues, theodore was different. he kept to himself, always with a book in hand, his face partially hidden behind his chestnut, messy hair. his quiet, introspective nature intrigued you. there was a mystery about him, and the more you saw him retreat into the background, the more you found yourself drawn to him.

one afternoon, as you were heading back from the library, you noticed a group of gryffindor boys surrounding theodore. they were taunting him, throwing around rude comments about his introverted demeanor, how he never hung out with girls, and how odd it was that someone like him even existed in their year.

theodore, as usual, stood there quietly, his eyes downcast, as if their words didn't bother him - but you could see the tension in his shoulders.

without thinking twice, you strode over, placing yourself between theodore and the gryffindors. "is this really the best use of your time?" you asked, your voice laced with sarcasm. "i mean, if you've got nothing better to do than bully someone for minding his own business, maybe you should consider spending more time in the library. merlin knows you could use the help."

one of the gryffindors sneered, "why do you care so much, yn? it's not like he-"
"i care because i don't have time for idiots," you interrupted, narrowing your eyes. "now leave before i hex you so badly, you'll be seeing bats for weeks."

the boys muttered under their breath but quickly dispersed, clearly not wanting to get on your bad side. once they were gone, you turned to theodore, who was looking at you with wide, astonished eyes. "are you okay?" you asked, offering him a gentle smile.

he blinked, clearly not expecting anyone, let alone you, to come to his defense. "y... yeah," he stammered, his cheeks flushing slightly. "i didn't need your help, but... thanks."
you shrugged, brushing off his attempt to downplay the situation. "it's no big deal. those idiots should know better than to mess with someone like you."
