Lora's POV

as I stepped off the hoverbike and climbed through the shattered window of an abandoned apartment, I noticed one of three things, 1. the place was surprisingly cleaner than I thought almost too clean, 2. one of the tables was covered in books and papers and 3...

" WAIT"

Axton shouted as she held my waist and pulled us back into the wall as a knife attached to a rope flew by.

" boobytrap...how smart. Looks like whoever was here really didn't want us to see or steal anything"

"hehe boobytrap."

"shut up dumbass and look around, the boss said we'll get extra for getting this stupid paper."

I looked around carefully, jumping from table to table, chair to countertop, knocking over and searching.

" what exactly did this old fart say it looked like?"

"blue, shiny, can only be touched with magick hands.''

" such as yourself?...how convenient."

As Axton said that I stopped and looked back at her with a sigh. 

"What? Did I say anything?"

"Ever since we started to work for this man, you've been so...rude and sceptical."

"Yeah, because this man claims to be my father when I barely even look like him, let alone my mother telling me about him."

I walked up to her and held her hand, she shrugged me away and went for the big pile of papers.

"I don't have time for this, let's just find this stupid thing."

"Axton..."

"Lora..leave it for any other day... I'd rather not talk about it right now."

I jumped after her and helped her search, catching a few soft gazes from her, the same look she gave me that day at the LIGHTS's entrance, that drunk soft gaze. I smiled and spoke softly.

" I just really don't trust him, he hasn't even made an effort to spend time with me, but he's been all over you, it's so creepy."

"can't blame him, I'm amazing after all."

We both chuckle as she picks up the shiny blueprints, caressing them with her thumb before turning to me. Her face screamed with sadness, but there was a hint of something else as she looked up at me with her glowing eyes.

" After this, after we get the money...what are we gonna do Axton?''

She smiles and puts the blueprints in my bag, her hands trailing to my arms and then resting on my shoulders.

"Maybe we can run away together. Live in the West, I can finally grow my plants in my greenhouse!...and you can finally finish your schooling and become a detective or something like that like we always wanted."

Her eyes sparkled so brightly as we kept eye contact, I couldn't help but let my eyes scan her and I couldn't control the big smile on my face as she spoke, but the sadness before came back and she sighed and looked at me, this time her gaze becoming a longing stare.

"That's if you don't...want to deal with your dad's shit anymore."

"I love my dad, he's made a lot of mistakes"

"too many"

" yeah...but I think I want to start over, I want to see how far I can go, and I want to see how far you go as well. I guess it's kind of stupid but"

"But?"

" I wanna grow old with you I guess, like one of your plants. I want things to be calmer, for both of us. No more you risking your life just to survive, and no more me worrying about your safety."

"you worry about me?"

My face burns pink as I look away, only realising now how embarrassed I am. Axton laughs, grabs the blueprints and puts them on the table, winking at me.

"You're so cute you know that right...and I worry about you too sometimes."

I smile and walk next to her, trying the spell to reveal the hidden prints. Axton looks down as her smile fades. my expression hardens as I step back, not wanting to accept what I see in front of me.

"No...no It can't be, can't be."

"Lora wait, wait breathe first."

Axton tries to calm me down as I pull out my communication pad and call Axton's so-called father. He rolls his eyes at Axton but smiles at me as he speaks.

"Ah girls, I see you got the blueprints."

"The fuck you mean you're gonna kill Zyx?"

"Pardon me? language much and why does Zyx matter to you-"

NO FUCK YOU, YOU BETTER EXPLAIN WHAT IM SEEING HERE OR ELSE-"

"Lora...look at the next page"

I face away from him and look down at the prints, the anger in me disappearing and replaced by shock and sadness.

"you see, before you cuss at me again, Zyx and his father are up to no good. Zyx's entire species is evil, you know this first hand, Lora. He and his kind killed your family, took your land and made your people violent."

"I know this...but Zyx isn't like them, he took care of me when they attacked and saved me when I got kidnapped by his dad. He destroyed the entire kingdom."

"not all of it, he just set it alight, ever since then The King has been planning to get Zyx back to his side, to turn the North and all of downtown to dust once and for all using the same magick he taught you."

He sighed as he laid his hand on his desk.

''Lora hunny, if we don't find and kill the both of them-"

"We will become dust" Axton finished his sentence.

"Exactly, good girl Axton"

"Shut up you piece of shit, listen, Zyx could never and I mean EVER even think about going back to his father. HE LOVES ME SO MUCH AND HE NEVER LET ANYTHING PUT ME IN DANGER.'

I looked down at Axton, looking at her smiling response, but her smile wasn't genuine.

"Well then, tell me why did he accept the invitation? or is my database incorrect which isn't likely by the way?"

He said as he pulled up the invitation with Zyx's perfectly complicated signature. No one could ever copy his handwriting not even me, so my heart shattered as the reality sat in.

"You have two options, Axton and Lora, go to this event undercover and kill them all, or risk losing everything and everyone you love. Downtown is in the palm of your paws. do with this information as you will, I'll send you the details tomorrow, we move by Friday."

Then he hung up, I looked up blankly as I walked a few steps before destroying everything in my path out of pure anger. Axton sat with the prints in her hands in silence, she was angry but didn't say anything.

"I'm sorry Lora...I swear I would tell you before you discovered this"

I turned around, my face going blank again and my voice becoming cold as I walked to her slowly.

"what do u mean you're sorry?"

For the first time in forever, I stared at her as tears swelled up her eyes and guilt covered her aura. I felt my entire universe shatter as she spoke, breaking my trust in her completely.

"I knew...I knew about all of this"
