Professor Cormac Lithon was not your average middle aged man. In secret, he was actually about 300 years old and from a planet called Caro. He was sitting in his laboratory, studying ancient runes and inscriptions for fun when the earth shook around him.
He turned his head in the Chamber and stared at the five Crystallis Shards. They were glowing, brighter than ever... the same way they glowed back then..
He muttered out. "Alara."
Alara, his assistant, came out of her study. "Yeah?" She noticed the look on his face. "What's wrong- oh." She saw the Shards.
"That can't be good." She said, going closer to it, pulling out her tablet.
"Pull up security footage of the closest link to the Abyss."
Alara did as she was told, tapping a few buttons, swiping a few options and eventually making a big vertical swipe, displaying it on the blank wall. It showed a dark alley. And a crack was forming in the floor, inside it was a dark red. And something short of a monster's hand tried creeping it's way out, but it closed back up, and almost imediately opened back uo again, repeating the closing and opening like a flickering light.
"Alara." Lithon removed his glasses. "I would say it's time."

Inside the Obsidian Abyss, Onyxar reported back to the throne of the Crystallis Overlord.
"My lord, we keep trying to send Balsator into the mortal world but the crack keeps closing."
There was silence then-
"Useless!" Dark tendrils of shadow seeped out of the throne, wrapping around Onyxar's throat, grabbing him and flinging him away.
The Crystallis Overlord frowned. "Malachra."
Malachra, General of Poison, came rushing in. "You called, my lord."
"Since Onyxar's decided to be useless, when Balsator gets through that crack, I want you, Crysonis and fifty Crystanoids to go up with him."
"But, my lord, we've been trying for hours, the crack isn't opening."
The Overlord smirked. "That's the thing. It will open. Knowing Cormac Lithon, he'd have noticed the crack and figured we'd be trying to leave, which will send him into fear, then he'll hand out the Shards, releasing us."
Malachra chuckled, leaning forward to try to pat the Overlord in a romantic manner. He noticed and sent a shadow tendril at her face.
"Malachra, dear. I'm evil, not a romantic."
"Y-Yes, my Lord."
"Well, get going. You and Onyxar go help Crysonis with creating the Crystanoids to assist Balsator once we're free, then finally the Earth shall be under my rule, and Professor Cormac J. Lithon will fall, along with whatever team of "heroes" he assembles.

Ardenstone High. The one place Kai didn't want to be in.
As he walked through the bustling halls, struggling to find his English AP Classroom, he bumped into someone. A familiar guy wearing a white shirt with a green jacket on top.
"Hey, watch where you're going." Kai said.
"Sorry." The guy said. "You're the new guy, right? Kai?"
"Yeah."
Then it clicked. He knew why this guy was familiar. He had seen him on a board with the top English AP Scorers in their year when he was looking up the school."
