season 1 episode 5

To say the week had been rough was an understatement.

Tatum had been going to meeting after appoitment after meeting after appoitment.

Bobby almost benched her, almost. But she knew if she was going through this, he was too.

She would go on calls, but Bobby made sure that she was never alone and never doing anything that was deemed 'too much'.

But today's call was different. Today's call was a mass casuality.

"Sixteen DOA so far. Mostly blunt trauma to the head or crushed by falling debris or other bodies. One victim impaled." Buck told Bobby as he and Tatum walked into the scene.

The floor of a venue had collapsed, taking a good ammount of the wedding goers with it.

"They fell through two stories, I won't be surprised if that number goes higher." Bobby said.

"Captain, the groom is devastated, his bride hasn't been accounted for yet." Hen had joined the others to say.

"We'll find her. Buck, I'm gonna need you to go up top. Access to the second floor is blocked, we're gonna have to tackle this thing from both ends. Tatum, I want you up there with him. You got that?"

"Sure thing, Cap." She nodded.

She was the first to make it back to the truck, tossing her jacket off and grabbing a harness. Buck was not far behind, eyeing her as she tightned her harness.

"Make sure yours is tight this time, Buckley." She said, trying to get his worried glance off her.

"Ha ha." He jokingly said. She grabbed her anchor and chord, attaching the chords to her harness. She secured her light on her helmet before looking over at him.

"Don't wait up." She began to walk back into the building.

"Whoa, Tatum! Wait!"

She had lost him in th crowd, heading to the open staircase to follow her orders, tacking this from the top. She began to secure her anchor on a post that was still standing and went through all floors.

As terrible as it sounds, it felt good to be doing more than being Hen's shadow.

"Tatum, you gotta wait for me."

"I really don't." She replied, getting ready to propel of the side of the hole.

"What are you gonna do when you find someone? Move the debris yourself?"

"I will do everything I can to do so, yes." She looked at him. "Are you coming down or not?" He stood beside her, nodding at her as the two began to propel down.

"Help! Help in here!"

"All right, sir, we got you." Tatum said, her feet planting on the ground.

"My leg, I think it's broken."

"Okay, hang tight." Buck bent down, begining to remove debris from his leg. Tatum kneeled on the otherside, assisting on the removal. "Okay, Tate, I need help with this piece. She grabbed the other end of a chunk of cement, nodding at him that she was ready to lift. He nodded back, the two lifting the heavy object off. The man screamed in pain as the pressure was releaved.

"Okay, this is gonna hurt, it's gonna suck, but we need to get you down one more floor." Tatum told him.

"W-What?"

"This floor is not secure, and there's more hands down there. Once we get down we can get you the help that you need." She said, clipping him on to her harness.
