I stayed silent after listening to Lucy. He still hasn't told Alex the truth, and that surprised me. When I saw them hugging each other earlier, a strange doubt began to grow inside me. This is my own family we're talking about. How is it possible that there are secrets like that between them?
Venom, as always, appeared in my head at that precise moment. "Don't worry, Rex. You're safe. Everything is under control," he said in that calm, but unmistakably commanding tone.
"I don't know what to say," I replied, without much encouragement. There was something about the way Alex looked at Lucy that made me feel uncomfortable. It wasn't something I could put my finger on exactly, but I felt it in the air. Still, I couldn't get it out of my head. Maybe it was that same worry that was eating away at me now.
After a moment of silence, Venom spoke again. "Humans have very complicated emotions," he commented, as if realizing for the first time how tangled they are.
I couldn't avoid sarcasm in my response: "And you wanted to have symbiosis with one."Venom stayed quiet, but he knew he didn't have much to answer to that. As the conversation with him continued, I watched Alex and Lucy in the distance, boarding the roller coaster. They were both smiling, seemingly uncaring about what was beneath the surface. They seemed so carefree.
A strange feeling of responsibility began to grow inside me, one that I couldn't ignore. Alex is my family. I must protect him, no matter what, no matter what secrets are revealed or what problems may arise. It's my duty. It has been since the moment he picked me up that time.
But just as I was about to think about what it all meant and how to deal with the situation, I heard a noise. A noise that I didn't like at all.And then, uncertainty took over me again.
