The whole table is caught up in a random conversation about random people who I don't know, so I just decided to tune them out.
Valentina sits beside me, and I was forced to sit on the ends of the table anyway so I can't even sit directly beside her.
I just want to escape this all for once.
With Valentina of course.
I pull out my phone and hide it under the table, and acting as normal and casual as possible so no one finds out as I got told by my mother if I used my phone at the dinner party then she would murder me in my sleep. She was joking, she won't actually.
To my surprise, there is already a message waiting for me.Tina<3: in about five mins say ur going to get smth from ur house but actually come to my room and ill meet u there
She sent that message four minutes ago, and I immediately feel terrible that I didn't see it when she sent it.
"Hey mum, I'm gonna go get my other jacket from my room this one isn't warm enough" I inform my mother, and she nods in approval.
I stand up and look into Valentina's eyes, giving her an assuring glance.
Tina<3: go to my room and hide in the corner or smth
It is quite hard to close the door behind me without seeming suspicious to the people sitting in the backyard at the glass table. Thankfully the stairs that snake up to her room are not able to be seen from the backyard.
About two minutes pass before Valentina slowly creeps into her room, looking at me with eyes of love and nothing else.
I stand at the end of her bed, staring at my phone as I have been texting her.
She's all I've ever dreamed of.
For years, I carried her name like a secret, a quiet ache wrapped in my dreams. That's all I ever thought it would remain, in my dreams.
Your lightening spark in the distance always seems to warm my heart.
Time stretched on, each moment spent waiting, lost in the wonder of what could be.
In her laughter, I find my sense of life, in every shared glance, a promise fulfilled. What once was a dream is now our reality, and love blooms, vibrant and alive.
Tina<3: okay u can come out now
I rush out of her room, running myself down the stairs back to the table.
"Where is your jumper?" My mother asks me, and I didn't even think of that. "Oh-I couldn't find it"
Oh of course he fucking lost it
Is that really what my mother thinks of me? I mean it could be worse, but it still hurts.
Valentina helps her mother clear the table, and everyone is now scattered around the yard talking with each other, while sipping at a beer.
