Taehyung still had that tiny smile on his face, one he wasn't really aware of, as he unlocked the door of his house entering it.
"Where were you?"
Taehyung halted near the front door at the voice, a dread washing over his body, the kind of fear he shouldn't feel from hearing his own mother's voice.
He turned his head towards the woman who was standing at the entrance of the kitchen, a bottle of wine in her hand, hair messy, eyes red as she took slow steps towards him.
"M-mom.." Taehyung took a light step back at the sight, his mom was clearly not in her right state of mind. It was one of those looks he was well acquainted with, that look in her eyes was the one he always saw since long ago, before his nightmares started.
"I asked you a question." His mom seethed, "where the fuck were you?"
"I was with my- my friends. We were supposed to be back in the morning but- but we missed the bus and there weren't any other bus till evening so we-" Taehyung explained in a hurry but his words were cut short by the slap on his cheek, the sound slicing through the otherwise silence of the house.
"Did I allow you to?" His mother asked, her grip on his arm tighter for a woman who was intoxicated.
"You weren't home-" another slap. Taehyung's face moved towards the other direction at the impact, his cheek red and a cut formed by the ring on his mother's hand, which sting.
"You live off my money! You should ask for my fucking permission before wasting it away like this, you useless brat!"
Taehyung bite down on his lower lip at the words. He gulped down the bitter bile raising up his throat, "it- it didn't cost much-"
"Bullshit! You living is a burden in itself! Why can't you think of me atleast once? Why did you have to ruin my whole life like this!" His mother screamed at his face.
Those were the exact words Taehyung has been hearing for almost his whole life. His hands shook a little by his side, as he rapidly blinked his eyes to stop the tears.
"Go to your room and don't show me your face! Leave!"
And Taehyung did. Nodding his head and then walking away to his room. It was better now, atleast he wasn't locked up in a small, dark room after getting hit by his mother like how it was when when he was small. Atleast he gets to be in the comfort of his room now.
He quickly entered closing the door behind him and locking it. He kept the bag on his desk and walked towards the window, opening it and closing his eyes as the cool bridge hit his face.
He opened them again and stared at the closed window of Jungkook's room from across the road, that didn't stay closed for too long as the raven haired appeared infront of it.
Taehyung thought for a second to walk away from the window but his body didn't allow him to. He stood rooted in his place as he watched his mate open the window and stare back at him.
And for some reason Taehyung felt this sudden urge to run towards his mate and hug him and cry his heart out. But he can't. He can't allow himself to be that vulnerable, not infront of Jungkook.
He could physically feel the pain in his chest and the loneliness he has always felt in his heart. Unbeknownst to him a tear fell from his eyes. He quickly turned around as the previous smirk on the raven head's face turned into a frown.
While Jungkook's frown deepens as he saw the other's hand go up to his face and rub at it before quickly turning around and closing the window and drawing in the curtains, without glancing at him once.
