Inside the kitchen, Taehyung leaned against the counter, trying to steady his breathing. Hoseok raised an eyebrow at him, a knowing smirk tugging at his lips.

"Everything okay in there?" Hoseok asked, pretending to be casual as he reached for a bottle of soda.

"Fine," Taehyung replied a little too quickly, grabbing a random snack to occupy himself.

"Uh-huh," Jimin said, leaning against the fridge. "Sure didn't sound like it."

"Why don't you mind your own business?" Taehyung shot back, glaring at them both.

Namjoon chuckled from the other side of the counter. "You know, Tae, denial isn't a good look on you."

Taehyung groaned, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know what you're all talking about."

"Sure, sure," Hoseok said, patting Taehyung's shoulder. "Whatever helps you sleep at night, buddy."

Before Taehyung could respond, Jungkook walked into the kitchen. He walked straight past Taehyung, grabbing a drink from the fridge and leaning casually against the counter next to him.

"Like my face that much? You are staring." Jungkook asked, his voice low enough that only Taehyung could hear.

"Not even a little," Taehyung muttered, refusing to look at him.

Jungkook chuckled softly, taking a sip of his drink. "Liar."

"You act all smug," Taehyung said, irritated, "But it's clear you're compensating for something."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, "Oh? Big words from someone who can't go five minutes without trying to one-up me."

"Maybe because I can actually back it up," Taehyung shot back, stepping closer, his gaze sharp and challenging.

"Really?" Jungkook tilted his head, his voice dropping a notch, taking a step closer as well. "You sure about that, tae?"

The way Jungkook said tae made it sound more like an insult and a dare, and Taehyung wasn't about to back down. He took another step forward, their faces inches apart now.

"You're playing a dangerous game," Taehyung said, his voice low but steady, his eyes locked onto Jungkook's.

Jungkook's smirk didn't falter. "I could say the same to you."

The others exchanged wide-eyed glances, unsure whether to intervene or let the two implode. Jimin whispered something to Hoseok, who shook his head with a grin.

"Maybe we should-" Namjoon started, but Yoongi raised a hand to stop him.

"Let them sort it out," Yoongi said calmly, sipping his drink. "This is entertaining."

Back in the battle zone, neither Taehyung nor Jungkook moved. Their standoff was electric, charged with unspoken words and unrelenting stubbornness.

"Admit it," Jungkook said softly, his voice just loud enough for Taehyung to hear. "You're scared I might actually win."

Taehyung's lips curved into a slow, dangerous smile. "Win? Oh, Jungkook, I don't lose."

Jungkook chuckled, leaning closer until their noses were almost touching. "Then prove it."

Their proximity was suffocating, neither willing to break eye contact. They could feel the heat radiating off eachother. It was maddening, infuriating, and yet...

"I don't have to prove anything," Taehyung said finally, his voice steady but his pulse betraying him. "Your ego is already bruised enough just standing in my presence."
