If i ever was a writer of the last of us two story,i wouldn't let Joel go out in the most pathetic way possible! I mean,Joel took on clickers,bloaters,runners and possibly hundreds of people and survived! A golf club should have been nothing to him! I would have given Joel a good death like this!
I would at least make him get bitten or infected at the end of the game and let the player decide to ether kill Joel or let him turn into a runner or if I won't make him get bitten or infected I would make him ether die of age or protecting Ellie. Its certainly better than having his head smashed in by shit and woke writing.
